PRACTICUM REPORT

INSTRUMENT & DENTAL EQUIPMENT

FORCEPS FOR ADULT

CHAPTER 1

PRELIMINARY

A.BACKGROUND

tooth extraction pliers, the most widely used instrument in extracting teeth is forceps. the use of this
instrument allows the operator to grasp the root part of a tooth and remove a tooth from its socket.
the simplest & most efficient pliers pattern is straight pliers for upper teeth, and like all pliers, it has
a blade and handles that are joined by a hinge joint. the greater the ratio between the length of the
handle and the length of the blade, the greater the leverage that can be given to the root. The length
of the root must be such that the tang fits the operator's hand, because the greater the distance
between the joints of the hinge and the operator's hand. the movement of the pliers is in the hand

B.PURPOSE

1. to know the kinds of extraction pliers

2. to find out the function of extraction pliers

3. to find out how to use extraction pliers

CHAPTER II

DISCUSSION

A.UNDERSTANDING OF FORCEPS

Pliers are tools commonly used in extracting both primary teeth and permanent teeth. the choice of
pliers also depends on the shape of the anatomy of the tooth, and the location in the mouth.

pliers that are used for permanent teeth and primary teeth are generally almost the same, but the
difference is the size because the primary teeth are smaller than permanent teeth. other than that
the deciduous teeth have springs on the handle.

B. KINDS OF FORCEPS FOR ADULT

A. permanent crown of the maxillary anterior teeth

Characteristic features :
-antara Handle to beak shaped straight

-Both the beaks if closed don't meet

-The hand for the left and right teeth are the same

Usability:

-To remove permanent upper front teeth

Risk of use

-critical

B. Permanent crown of the maxillary posterior teeth

Characteristic features :

-Among handle up to beak shaped like the letter "S"

-Both beak when closed don't meet

-The hand for the left and right teeth are the same

Its usefulness:

-To remove the crown of the permanent premolar upper teeth

Risk of use:

-critical

C. permanently tang the crown of the maxillary molars

Characteristic features :

-Among handle up to beak shaped like the letter "S"

-Both part / beak if closed do not meet

-The hand for left and right teeth is not the same

- one notched groove for the buccal part of the notched notch for the palatinal portion

Usability:

-To remove permanent upper molars

risk of use:
- critical

D. permanent forceps of the mandibular anterior teeth

Characteristic features :

-Handle up to its shape in a 90 degree angle

-Both part / beak if closed do not meet

- both beaks don't curl

-The hands for the left and right teeth are the same

Usability:

-To remove the crown of the permanent lower anterior teeth

risk of use:

-critical

E. permanent tang of mandibular premolar tooth crown

Characteristic features :

-Handle and up to the shape in a 45 degree angle

-Both part / beak if closed do not meet

- Both halves don't curl

-The bag for the left and right tooth roots is the same

Usability:

-To remove the crown of permanent premolar lower teeth

risk of use:

-critical

F. permanent forceps of mandibular molars

Characteristic features :

-Handle and up to beak forming a 90 degree angle

-Both part / beak if closed do not meet

-Both notched beaks

-The hand for the left and right teeth are the same

Usability:

-To remove the crown of permanent lower molar

risk of use:

- critical

G. permanently crown the maxillary third molars

characteristics:

- between handles to beaks shaped like "s"

-the second half / beak if closed do not meet

-the bags for the left and right teeth are not the same

usability:

- to remove the crown of the permanent upper third molar

risk of use:

-critical

H. Permanent forceps of the anterior maxillary teeth

Characteristic features :

-Handle to beak straight

-Both part / beak when closed meet

-The hand for the left and right teeth are the same

Usability:

-To remove the root of the permanent anterior teeth

risk of use:

-critical

I. permanent hand of the posterior maxillary tooth root

Characteristic features :

-Handle to beak shaped like "s" (bayonet)

-Both beak / beek when closed meet

- both beaks don't curl

-The hands for the left and right teeth are the same

Usability:

-To remove the root of the posterior tooth over permanent

risk of use:

-critical

J. Permanent pliers of lower jaw roots

characteristic features :

-handle up to beak forming a 90 degree angle

-both part / beak when closed meet

- both beaks don't curl

-the hands for the teeth are the same left and right

usability:

- to pull out the root of the permanent lower teeth

risk of use:

-critical

CHAPTER III

CLOSSING

A.conclusion

Pliers are tools used in extracting both primary teeth and permanent teeth. the selection of pliers
also depends on the shape of the anatomy of the tooth and its location in the mouth. extraction
pliers have different characteristics, between pliers for the maxilla & lower jaw, forceps for anterior
& posterior teeth, pliers for crowns & roots.
