

PART 1. INDIVIDUAL TURNS


Self-introduction

My name’s Dieu. I’m 20 years old. I’m a student in electronics and


telecommunications at Post and Telecommunication Institude of Technology. I
was born in Cai Lay District, Tien Giang Province. My hometown is rural with many
stretches of rice fields and fruit trees. I like surfing webs to read news, watching
horror films and cartoon and traveling. I’m so humorous but sometimes so
stubborn and hot- temper . I have a part-time job – staff of a small coffee. At the
end of the month , I usually go home.

 Daily activities
Everyday, I get up at 6.30 (half past six) a.m to prepare to go to school. I go
to school by bike. I eat breakfast before starting new lesson. Morning
classes start at 7.30 (thirty past seven) am and finish at 11.00 a.m and
afternoon classes from 12.50 (ten to 1 p.m) to 4.15 (a quarter past four)
p.m. I do homework from 8.30p.m to 11pm and go to bed at about 12p.m.
 Leisure activities
In my free time, I usually review lessons last week, read books or go to the
book strore to find a few book. At the weekend, I sometimes go swimming
, go to the zoo, cinema, drink coffee with my brother,sister and nephew.
Sometimes, I and my friends cook hot pot or sweet soup and go to the
supermarket.
 Likes & dislikes
I like reading book and surfing webs because it brings to me many things ,
good and bad. It helps me to widen my knowledge about problems in the
life. I like listening music because it helps me to relax after stress classes
and makes me happy when I feel sad.
I don’t like summer because it so hot but I like summer holidays. I dislike
beer, wine and tobacco because they harmful to healthy.
 Describing things & people
In my family, mom whom I love the best. For me, she is the best woman.
She always take care of all members in my family. She teaches me many
things about the life. She always encourages me in studies and makes me
happy when I sad. My mom cooks very well. Now, I’m studying away from
home, I remember foods which my mom cooks. I’m sure no one can cook
better than my mom.
 Future plans
I want to become a good engineer, work in a foreign corporation and earn
much money. I will learn and research more about technology to make new
technology and improve smart devices. I want to have an experience life
with multiple smart devices and travel around places where technology is
concerned.
PART 2. ROLE PLAYS

1. Asking & giving directions:


A: Excuse me, this is the first time I have arrived here. Could you help
me something?
B: Yes. It’s OK
A: Do you know there are ATM stations near by?
B: Yes. There is a Vietinbank ATM . This is ManThien street, you turn
right and go ahead about 500m. ATM is located at the top left.
A: I’m so hungry but I don’t know where is grocery store.
B: There are three grocery store B’smart, Circle K and My Mart. You turn
right go ahead about 10m, you can see Circle K at the left of street or
you go ahead about 20m, there is B’smart and you can go ahead 50ms,
there is My Mart.
A: Oh. That’s great. I’m looking for a photocopy store. Is it near here?
B: Yes. You turn left about 10m, it’s opposite the bus stop.
A: Oh. Thank you so much. I’m so lucky to meet you.
B: Hihi. No problem.
2. Weekend activities:
 How you spend last weekend:
A: Goodmorning, B
B: Goodmorning, A. How are you?
A: I’m fine ,thanks. And you?
B: Me too. Could you tell me how you spent last weekend?
A: Last weekend , I went for a picnic with my family and took many
photographs. Do you want to see them?
B: Yes, I do. Wow, they are beautiful. Oh, I guess there is DaLat, isn’t
there?
A: Oh yes. DaLat is so beautiful with many beauty-spots, cool and fresh
air, delicious dishes and kind people. What about your last weekend?
B: I had a party with my old friends in my house. We hasn’t met for 3
years.
A: Wow, that’s sound like fun. What did you do for that party?
B: We had a BBQ with some cans of beer, karaoke. We missed our
anniversities in high school and talk about what happen in our life.
A: I think that’s funny and unforgetable weekend for you.
B: Yes. I think so.
A: I’m so sorry because I’m having a lesson now. See you later
B: Goodbye.
 How you are going to spend next weekend:
A: Goodmorning, B
B: Goodmorning, A. How are you?
A: I’m fine ,thanks. And you?
B: Me too. Would you like to drink a cup of coffee?
A: Yes, I’d love to. Could you tell me how you are going to spend next
weekend?
B: I’m going to my hometown. I miss my family.
A: Oh. I miss my family, too. But I can’t go home yet. What else?
B: I’m having a class party with old school friends and visiting my relatives.
A: That sound like fun!
B:And you?
A: I’m going to attend the wedding of a relative in Phu Nhuan District . I will
be a bridesmaid.
B: Wow. At that time, you will be look very beautiful!
A: Oh , thanks you! I’m sorry because I have to pick my nephew. See you
later.
B: Bye.
3. Making requests complaining and handling
complaints
 Order meal:
Waiter: Hi Madam, Can I take your order now?
Customer: Yes. I’d like a house salad please.
Waiter: Ok. Would you like to eat maindish?
Cus: Steak with fries, please.
Waiter: Would you like potatoes or rices with your steaks?
Cus: What kind of potatoes do you have?
Waiter: We have baked, mashed, or French fries.
Customer: I’ll have French fries please.
Waiter: And how would you like your steak done?
Customer: Medium-rare, please.
Waiter: Would you like any thing for desert?
Cus: Chocolate cake, please.
Waiter: How about drinks?
Cus: Orange juice , please.
Waiter: I’ll put your order in and be right back with some hot rolls and
butter.
Customer: Thank you.
 Complain about dish problem
Waiter: Here’s your order, Madam. House salad , Steak with rices and
orange juice.
Cus: Thanks. It’s look OK. But I don’t order rices, I choose French fries.
Waiter: Oh, I’m sorry. Let me check your order and change rices to French
fries for you.
Cus: Huh… House salad looks not very fresh and tastes sweet. I don’t like
sweet.
Waiter: I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy it. I’ll return it to the kitchen and bring
you one that’s fresh. Sorry for the trouble.
Cus: That’s perfectly all right.
Waiter: How is your salad this time?
Cus: Very fresh. I like it.
Waiter: I’m glad you enjoy it. Would you like to order anything else?
Cus: No, thanks. I’ve had enough.

A: Good morning, madam. Welcome to my shop.

A:May I help you?
C: I want to buy an overcoat for my son but I don’t know how to choose.
A: There are many kind of overcoats for children and adult. Can I know old’s
your son to choose an suitable overcoat?
C: He’s 15 years old.
A: Could you follow me to choose an suitable overcoat?
C: OK ..Wow, the red overcoat which has a hat is very beautiful. What is it
made of?
A: It’s made of soft cotton fabric so when you wear it you will feel very
comfortable. Moreover, this fabric is very easy to wash.
C: Oh. How cost is it?
A: It’s 250 $ if you choose it , I can sale 5% . Now, my shop has the last one.
C: Oh…I choose it. Could you put it in a gift box?
A: Ok..Please wait a moment.
C: Ok.
A: That is your overcoat and bill. Thank you very much. Hope to see you
again.
C: OK.

A: Are you free at the weekend?
B: No, I aren’t . I’m going to visit my grandparents with my mom at the
weekend. What’s up?
A: I will call for you go fishing with my friends.
B: Oh, I ‘d love to but I can’t go. Can we go fishing on the other day?
A: Ok. What the day are you free?
B: How about Thursday?
A: Oh no, I have an English lesson on Thursday. What about Saturday?
B: Ok. When we go?
A: 3.00 p.m at my house.
B: Ok. Could you pick me up? I don’t have a bike.

6. Job interview

You: Yes. I am.
Interview: Could you tell me something about yourself?
You: My name is _______ . I am 20 years old. I’m living and working in HCM
city. For education, I graduated cooking course on cakes. After 3 years
learning and making many cakes, I have had a lot of experience.
Interview: What is your main duties?
You: My main duties are decorate birthday cakes and make fresh cream
cakes.
Interview: What are your strengths and weaknesses?
You: I believe my strongest point is my attention to details and always find
new ones. My weakness is the ability to work with many people. But I'm
improving it better.
Intervewer: Why do you leave your job?
You: Because I want to expand my experience more in the new
environment.
Interviewer: Can you work overtime?
You: Yes. I can if I am required and my duty.
