Execution Methodology of

PIPING JOB.

FABRICATION

ACTIVITIES INVLOVED.
1) Collection of Drawing from Client.
2) Marking of field Joints.
3) Preparation of Material List.
4) Issue of fabrication drawing to working area.
5) Collection of materials from Client stores.
6) Preparation of internal issue note ( Indent )
7) Issue of materials for fabrication.
8) Fit up of spool
9) Welding of spool.
10) N.D.T Clearance.
11) Dispatch of spool.

1) Collection of Drawing from Client.
The Planning department is collecting the fabrication
drawings along with transmittal from client’s
representative. The details are entering in data base.

2) Marking of field Joints.


After receiving the drawings, planning department is
doing the spool marking in consultation with site
engineer. All the drawing details such as line number,
spool number, revision, size, thickness, welding ID,
MOC etc are uploading in database.

3) Preparation of Material List.
Listing out the fabrication materials for each spool and up
load in database. The updated soft copy is issuing to
material department for issue of materials and
reconciliation. The responsibility is of planning department.

4) Issue of fabrication drawing to work space.


After uploading all details of drawings, the planning
department is issuing the drawing to execution for
fabrication.

5) Collection of materials from Client’s stores.
As per the list received from planning department,
material co-ordinator is preparing the material issue note
and collecting the materials from client’s stores. After
collecting the materials from stores, the material
department is conducting a raw material inspection with
the co-operation of QA/QC department. If there is any
discrepancy found, a material rejection note has been
made by QC department and submitting to material
department. Then the material co-ordinator asks client for
a material return note and returning the same to client’s
stores. After returning, again preparing new issue note
for substitution of that material.

6) Preparation of internal issue note ( Indent ).
On receipt of the fabrication drawing from planning
department, the execution department preparing the
internal issue note ( indent ) for each spools and submitting
to stores.

7) Issue of materials for fabrication.


After receiving the indent, stores is checking the
requirement and availability in database updated and
received from planning and issuing the materials for
fabrication. The details of indent have been entering
in the database.

8) Fit up of spool.
After receiving the drawing and materials, execution
department issuing the same to technician for
fabrication. Marking, cutting, grinding of pipe and face
polishing of fittings and FIT UP of the spool as per the
drawing is doing in fabrication area ( Tacking is to be
done by qualified welders only ). After the fit up,
fabrication engineer checking the spool as per drawing
and specification ( size, mat code, MOC, orientation, level,
perpendicularity etc) and QC Engineer checking the MOC,
root gap, overlap etc and offering for client’s clearance.
After getting the clearance from client, the spool is
releasing for welding.

9) Welding of spool
After the spool is getting cleared for welding, welding
engineer is arranging for Pre-heating ( If applicable ) and
selecting the consumables in accordance with the
drawing, line class and WPS and engaging qualified
welders for welding. After the completion of welding,
preparing the joint for weld visual and handing over to
QC engineer for weld visual. The QC engineer ensuring
the weld visual and offering to client for clearance. After
getting weld visual clearance from client, conducting
PWHT ( If applicable ).

10) N.D.T Clearance.
As the weld visual and PWHT is completed, the spool will
shift for NDT Clearance. QA/QC Engineer submitting the
spool documents to client for NDT clearance and conducting
the NDT ( RT/UT/MPT/DPT etc ) as per the instruction of
client. ( Percentage of NDT is finalizing in consideration of
line class, spec and welder performance ). If NDT is clear, the
spool will shift for dispatch, otherwise it will go for
repair/rework and again NDT.
11) Dispatch of spool.
After getting NDT clearance, the material department will
provide end covers for all spools and shifting the spool to lay
down yard and submitting the report to planning
department. Planning department is entering the cleared
spool details in data base and handing over the report to
client.
