Although he hasn’t been a member of the
YMCA for long, Joey Sparren continues to
impress us with his motivation and
dedication to personal wellness. Driven by
sports, he visits the Towpath Trail Y three
to four times a week and works frequently
with our personal trainer, Dave Lingo, to
improve his workouts. Joey claims Lingo
has helped him to push himself, give him a
better mindset, provide nutrition tips, and
set goals throughout his fitness journey.
Already seeing great changes in his physical
abilities, diet, and motivation, he
encourages anyone looking to make
changes to their health to consider a

Get more than a membership experience at the Y! We're offering a special deal this month
for anyone who is looking to take advantage of all our great opportunities. Starting
October 7th, we will be signing up members with zero joining fee. This ends on October
13th, so be sure to mark your calendars and stop by the Welcome Center for more

No matter what experience you have or


how long it takes, with dedication and
determination, members can set goals to
achieve 100 classes! Simply log your
classes on your individual chart located at
the Welcome Center and, upon completion
of 100 classes, you receive a t-shirt and
photo recognition in the Group Exercise
Room. Anyone who reaches the 100 class
goal by December 15th will be entered into
the Grand Prize drawing. Visit the Welcome
Center to begin participating.

Start out your child’s basketball career with our instructional basketball program!
Participants will learn how to pass, dribble, and shoot through a variety of drills and
games. This program enforces the basic rules of basketball and prepares them for playing
in local leagues. Ages 5-7. Participants will receive a YMCA basketball T-shirt. Registration
ends November 1st

First Aid: The ASHI Basic First Aid course helps students develop basic first aid
knowledge, skills, and the confidence to respond. This first aid training program is an
excellent choice for both the community and workplace setting, and conforms to the 2015
AHA and ARC Guidelines Update for First Aid. Intended for individuals who are not
healthcare providers or professional rescuers but desire, or are required, to be certified in
basic emergency medical care.Certification is valid for 2 years.

Our class is made up of several different forms of martial arts. We focus mainly on
Taekwondo, a Korean martial art. We also teach Judo, Jujitsu, some Aikido and Self
Defense. We believe that multiple styles build a better and more well-rounded student.
Taekwondo is an Olympic Sport, but it can be something you will use the rest of your life.
Master Smith, a Fifth Degree black belt, has been instructing at the YMCA for 34 years.

When you're raising a child with special needs, learning to swim represents yet another
challenge, but one that must be overcome. That's why at the Y we offer a sensory swim
lesson for children with autism, sensory challenges, ADHD, and other difficulties. We hope
that with our help, students can move past personal obstacles to learn to swim, improve
their confidence, better their fitness, and learn more about water safety. Instructors will
adapt their teaching styles to suit each student's individual needs. Small group classes will
be held based on the student's needs and abilities.

Each swimmer will learn, grow, and thrive by developing the skills and relationships they
need to be healthy, confident, and connected to others. Get the swim team experience
and gain a competitive edge int he water. The focus will be on improving technique, all four
strokes, and becoming a more efficient swimmer while still having fun! Learn from our
certified YMCA swim instructors and coaches.

Prerequisite: Must be able to pass a deep water test.

Anyone over the age of 18 with the desire to swim in a team setting is invited to join the
Massillon Family YMCA Masters Swim Program. This program is open to fitness,
competition, and triathalon swimmers alike at all levels. Whether you have just taken your
first strokes in a swim lesson, are trying to reduce time for the next competition, or just
want to stay fit, this adult swim program provides a fun and friendly atmosphere for you
to work toward your individual goals. Practices include a coach, stroke critique, and a
planned workout. Stop by for more information today!

Together with the Village of Navarre Business Association, we will be displaying artificial
Christmas trees, wreaths and baskets for silent auction in the YMCA Lobby during
Christmas in the Village. Trees, wreaths and baskets can be donated from our local
businesses and the proceeds will be split between the two non-profit associations. Your
donation will also be seen by the entire community on Election Day, Tuesday, November
5th. Along with information posted on the Y website about your donation, we will
alternate pictures on our Facebook page for the “Featured Christmas tree, wreath or
Christmas basket of the Day” with your business name. Please follow the guidelines below
and thank you in advance for your participation!

Display stands for wreaths provided but will not be included to highest bidder
A recognition sign with your business name will displayed with your donation
You are welcome to bring materials to decorate under your tree
Tables are provided for smaller trees, baskets and wreaths

The Towpath Trail YMCA is bringing fun and fitness to Newcomers Chapel of Pigeon Run!
SilverSneakers® Classic is designed for Active Older Adults to help maintain a healthier
lifestyle, strengthen social ties and have a positive outlook on life. This program will
provide a blend of physical activity, healthy lifestyle and social orientated programming
that allows older adults to take greater control of their health and having fun doing so!
SilverSneakers® Classic class focuses on strengthening muscles and increasing range of
movement for daily life activities. Hand-held weights, elastic bands with handles and a
SilverSneakers® ball are offered for resistance. A chair is used for seated exercises or
standing support.
