Dear Admissions Committee:

I am writing to you in order to express my interest in the summer internship for biological
research offered by the Institute of Physics. I am an undergraduate student currently at my last
semester of the program of “Microbiology and Bioanalyses” at the University of Antioquia
(Colombia). I am part of the Group of Cellular Immunology and Immnunogenetics (GICIG, by the
initials in Spanish) since X, when I started working for my thesis project entitled “The role of CD28 Commented [L1]: Pon el año

cellular growth. At present, I am making a research internship linked with the project
“Standardization of the obtaining of mycobacterial RNA”. This internship had given me the
opportunity to learn and improve techniques related with the processing of mycobacterial growth,
RNA extraction, electrophoresis, as well as with RT-PCR.

For the research experiences that I have had through my undergraduate studies and professional
internships, I had recognized the importance of having a broad and complete perspective of the
development of science worldwide. This is why I consider that making a research exchange will
expand and complement my vision and profile as a scientist in construction. I have a great interest
in getting in touch with new research groups to broaden my scope, as well as to have the
opportunity to apply my knowledge and contribute to the progress of technics and projects. One of
my academic goals at a middle-term is to apply to a master program that allow me to continue with
my development as a researcher, which is why I consider that having the opportunity to participate
in the summer internship offered by you will bring me great academic benefits and personal growth.

To conclude, I would like to highlight my profound interest, my high capacity for work and
learning, and my motivation to ensure a successful internship. I hope that my profile will fit
satisfactorily your requirements and to have the opportunity of meeting and learning from your
research group. My field of interest corresponds to structural biology and molecular microbiology.
