Please select the appropriate statement below:

. √ . At this stage, I am satisfied with the progress of this Pre-service Teacher.

. . At this stage, I have some concerns about the progress of this Pre-service Teacher.

. . I consider this Pre-service Teacher may be at risk of not being able to meet the requirements of
the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.

Please provide some written feedback regarding areas of strength and areas needing improvement.

Professional Knowledge (Strengths): Ellie has demonstrated depth of understanding of the complexities of teaching.
She quickly develops positive relationships with students and colleagues. She understands students and how they learn,
independently noticing the learning, social and emotional needs of students. She asks questions and seeks advice when
required. She ensures she knows the required content and the relevant achievement standards ensuring she is teaching
students at the appropriate level. Ellie reflects on her teaching and student learning, refining activities and practice to ensure
students can enter and exit tasks at an appropriate level as well as challenge/stretch more able learners.

(Needs Improvement)
Ellie has a focus of how to differentiate learning in a multi-year level class. She is also aware that Maths is an area of learning
that she would like to improve in the upper years.

Professional Practice (Strengths): Ellie uses a variety of strategies when planning and implementing the teaching and
learning cycle. She has had to deal with some challenging behaviours and uses our whole school approach to a learning
language using questions to engage students and manage behaviour. She implements strategies to create and maintain a safe
and supportive learning environment. She demonstrates understanding of students’ achievement and has planned a range of
summative and formative assessment strategies.

(Needs Improvement) Dealing with challenging behaviour through questioning is something that is a challenge for any teacher
in this class. Ellie has successfully implemented behaviour strategies and asks for assistance with a couple of particularly
challenging students. She continues to practice and develop strategies for behaviour challenges that are constantly changing.
Ellie is focusing on how to give feedback in a variety of ways.

Professional Engagement (Strengths):

Ellie attended a professional training and effectively implemented learning from the training in the classroom. She has co-
planned a “learning sprint” (Simon Breakspear) that she will teach. She seeks and acts on feedback to improve practice. Ellie
puts forward her ideas with confidence. Her knowledge of what students are required to learn, and the needs of the students,
helps her to contribute effectively to collaborative planning and professional conversations.

(Needs Improvement) I encourage Ellie to seek and access professional learning opportunities in maths. Natural Maths
Strategies would be a great program to get started, learning strategies that can be transferred across year levels.. Improving
her confidence in this area will help her impart knowledge and strategies for students.
