Abstract
The objective for which this laboratory is performed is to understand the mechanical behavior
(effot and strain) of a metallic material by means of the effort test that is subjected in which it is
subjected to a standardized test tube to an axial tensile stress increasing until the rupture in the
specimen occurs, with this you can measure the resistance of a material to static forces and know
some mechanical properties. By means of a tensile test machine, the specimen of the material to
be studied is deformed, administering an axial load in the direction of the axis of the specimen.
The test tube is deformed while the load is increased, and the applied force is recorded, reaching
the fracture of the piece. With this, the immediate result is a force curve against elongation,
which becomes a effort diagram against unit deformation. Tensile tests generally must comply
with the requirements given the standards with which it is performed, which define the shape
and dimensions of the specimen, the speed of the test, the calibration and accuracy of the
equipment, the environmental conditions and the information to be presented in the test report.
For metallic materials the standards implemented are the EN ISO 6892-1 y la ASTM E8/8M.
