ABSTRACT

The general study of the municipal solid waste is required , to know about the waste generation and
source of waste in the city. As the population of a city grows, so does the waste that it generates. Along
with industrial and Commercial Development of a city, waste management system have to be revised
according to the city’s needs. Waste Management is an important aspect because if not done right , it could
lead to contamination and disease. Waste from Commercial establishments such as restaurants and cafes
mainly consist of food waste. Solid waste management is more esstintial for urban socities as they generate
a lot more garbages,; the availability of packaged food and other items leads to the accumulation of more
trash

The present study involve mainly the collection, compaction, transportation and disposal of
municipal solid waste by the installation of portable compactors. And the estimation and costing
,specification. The study area chosen is ward no 18 , south zone ,chickpete division,JC road.
The portable compactors are one which reduce the volume of solid waste. The solid waste is collected in different
methods And these waste is compacted by portable compactors .Once the waste is compacted , it is carried in a
waste transportor to disposal. The disposal is carried by buring ,dumping and landfilling. With the installation of
portable compactor the volume of waste got reduces ,so the space required for the disposal also get reduces.

To install the portable compactors a structure is constructed for the maintainance and process of compaction.
The specification and drawing of the structure is refered for the estimation and costing of the structure.
In this process it is possible to dispose more compacted solid waste in a particular area. Also maintainance
cleanness of the city and avoids diseases in the city.
