ABSTRACT
This study aims to determine the increase students’ motivation for social
studies and obtain a picture of the application of lesrning methods mind map. This
research methodusing a class action, wich consists of two cycles and each cycle in
cludes planning, implementation, observation and reflection. Instrumen used were
observation, interviews, documentation and questionnaire, data analysis technique by
using descriptive qualitative technique.
From the resulsit can be concluded that the application of mind mapping
method can increase students’ motivation. In creasing student motivation seen from
the increase in the average value in the first cycle of 49.89% to 85.20% in the second
cycle. In addition, application of mind mapping method also can improve students’
learning activities. This can be seen from the percent tage of learning activities in the
first cycle by 53.26% to 93.47% in second cycle.
