TOPIC: ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF SCIENCE

“EQUIPPED WITH HIS FIVE SENSES, MAN EXPLORES THE WORLD AND CALLS
HIS ADVENTURE SCIENCE”

When Adam was sent on this earth and ever since this plant gave birth to life, these were no tools
or gadgets. People used their hands to perform every job and their legs to travel to any place
.they used to rely on themselves to fulfill any task. Messengers were sent to convey messages.
Pigeons or horses were also used in this regard. But the entire dependence of a person was on
himself. Gradually, with the increasing individuals, their necessities increased. Their lifestyles
began to improve and inventions started. Recent centuries were the revolutionary ones. As
people used their minds for new discoveries.

AUDACITY OF IMAGINATION”

The present era is an age of science from making fires to creating home crafted tools; the
civilization has come a long way. From calculators, internet, computers, mobile phones, cars to
rockets and satellites, we are submerged in a sea of discovers and all of this is possible only
because of science.

GOD’S GIFTS. IT IS THE MOTHER OF CIVILIZATION OFART AND OF SCIENCE”

Science has revolutionized his lives. Long ago, travelling been a major problem. People used to
travel for several days to reach a nearby city. The journey of a few kilometers took weeks and
even months. But today, fast moving travelling and cars are there to help us. A person can travel
around the world in short interval of time. Moreover, aero planes have added to the luxury of
mankind. It has shortened the distances.

Means of communication were not enough in the past. The only possible way was to write a
letter and then wait for several days to get a reply back. Many people were unable to call their
relatives at certain events on time. Today, mobile phones and the wireless have made
communication easy. Sitting at home, one can talk to anymore at any corner of the world.

“ART IS I; SCIENECE IS WE”

Another bounty of science is the advancement in medical field. Surgery has made a tremendous
progress. The operations of eye, nose and brain etc have become very common. Moreover,
various surgical instruments have proved beneficial. In medicine, the introduction of various
vaccines has enabled man to overcome fatal diseases. Moreover, science has given man a
scientific outlook which is more important because without it, man cannot progress.
 “SCIENCE MADE LIFE EASY THROUGH ITS COMPLEXITY”

It has proved beneficial in the production of food. The ratio of crop has gone high. By the use of
pesticides, modern machines, fertilizers etc we are able to get better quality food. Engineers have
also built dams on rivers to provide cabals with water irrigation.

Electricity is the biggest invention of science. To has made life easier. It has provided man with
various machines. It has given a substitute to manual labors. Today, household tasks are being
performed with great ease.

“NEVER IGNORE THE OTHER SIDE OF PICTURE.AS IT REVEALS WHAT WAS

HIDDEN”

No one can ignore the benefits and advantages of science but there are two sides of a coin.
Science obviously has negative aspects too.

Firstly, it has made man lazy. Today, people rely upon machines more than thief own power.
Housewives perform various tasks on them. We can’t imagine a life without luxuries as they
have become addicted to them. People prefer using machinery than to work with the natural
power they are blessed with.

“MAN HAS BECOME THE TOOLS OF HIS TOOLS”

Secondly, science is being used to spread violence. The bombs created for defensive purposes
are being used for destructive causes. Missiles, atoms bombs, guns etc are greatly being used to
threaten the world. From a person to a national level, violence is being spread.

Thirdly, it has resulted in spreading immorality. The advancements made for the benefit of
society are being used to harm the same society. Media has enabled youngsters to get a sort of
knowledge which polluted their minds.

“ONE OF THE SADDEST ASPECT OF SCIENCE IS THAT IT GATHERS KNOWLDEGE

FASTER THAN SOCIETY GATHERS WISDOM”

Physically and mental weaknesses are a result of vast use of science. Children spend hours
playing games on computers. Youth is spending much time on useless activities. Cars and
motorcycles have reduced the number of pedestrians. Pollution is becoming the mother of all
diseases. And the list goes on.

Concluding, I would say that everything has positive and negative aspects. As sadness is a part
and parcel of happiness so do disadvantages lie with advantages? A knife can be used to cut
fruits as well as a throat. It complete depends upon how we use the blessings-whether we
construct a bridge or a wall.
