Universal Design for Learning (UDL): ELL students, auditory learners, and visual learners can benefit from this
tool because they can read and hear the content. Students who are absent from school can use this
PowerPoint at home, so they don’t miss out on information from class. If students need to do online
schooling this tool is a great way to share information, other than just reading. This tool could be great for a
flipped classroom. Students can pause, re-wind, and fast forward through the PowerPoint and go at their own
pace. If a teacher needs to be absent from school this is a great tool to share with a substitute to ensure
students are receiving the correct information and the class can stay on track.

Lesson idea implementation: To introduce the subject the teacher should ask the class two “Does anyone
know how many planets are in our solar system?” and “Does anyone know the names of the planets?” Once
the class is done having that discussion watch the video as a class. After the class watches the video, split the
class into groups. Each group will be given an iPad to review the PowerPoint video and use PicFrame APP.

The first task for the groups is to find a picture they want to use for each planet on the iPad provided. Then
the need to take those pictures and fill them in on the PicFrame on in order from closest to the sun to
furthest from the sun. Once they finish that task they will airdrop the picture collage and send it to the
teacher to check for accuracy. The next task for the group is to make another picture collage arranging the
planets from smallest to largest. Once again they will airdrop it to the teacher to check for accuracy. The last
task for the group is to make as many collages as they need to arrange the planets by type. Then air drop
those to the teacher to check for accuracy as well. At anytime the students cannot recall any information on
the planets, they can use the iPad to go back through the PowerPoint video and reread/relisten to parts they
need to complete each task.

After each group is finished, regroup as a class and let any student that wants to ask questions or share
anything they found interesting. Ask the class “What planets do they think is the most similar to the Earth?”

Reflective Practice: To add more to this lesson I could let the students come up with ways the planets should
be grouped and then let them explain why they grouped them that way. I could print out the e-book to have
in each group so they could flip through instead of listen if any of the students prefer printed over online.
