Chapter I

Introduction

Education is one of the ways to fulfill the needs of every people, also to understand better what
the real essence of learning is. People widely agreed that education is the most effective tool to
sustain the needs of our society and to confront the challenges of tomorrow. Certainly, it will shape
the world of the future. This process increasing depends on the facilities and instructional materials
that a school or even the government should provide. Indeed, access for education is a must for
productive participation in the life of the rapidly changing world.

The quality of education depends on school facilities and instructional materials. It is the
process of students learning. The quality of school’s environment has a strong influence on students
learning. Regular use in organizing and managing a school’s activities, records of a school’s physical
facilities and material resources such as furniture and equipment can provide data to derive many
indicators for assessing the quality of education in a school. It can be defined as those things that
enable the teacher to do his/her work very well and helping the learners to learn efficiently.

The purpose of this study is to examine the possible impact of school facilities quality on
students’ achievement, attendance, behavior, dropout rate, and teachers’ relationship towards their
students in selected students at Union National High School. Subsequently, the researcher will
attempt to identify the aspects of good school facilities design that have the greatest potential to
impact well and quality learning.

Statement of the Problem

This study aims to investigate the impact of conducive learning environment on students’
academic performance.

Specially, this study aims to answer the following sub-questions:

1. How conducive learning environment affect students?
2. Are the school infrastructure including classrooms, toilets, chairs, desk, teaching aids, and etc.
adequate?
3. How can a teacher be part of conducive learning environment and how their performance can
affect students?
4. Do school facilities have impact on the academic performance of students?

Objectives of the Study:

The main objectives of the study is to determine the impact of school environment and how
conducive learning environment affect students achievements that most of the students are
experiencing, here at Union National High School.

1. To determine how conducive learning environment affects students.

2. To determine the influence of the learning environment on student success and
achievements.
3. To determine the insights of the students towards their learning environment.

on students. Only the Senior High School students are included in the said study. The researcher will
target a hundred and sixty [160] Senior High School students of Union National High School. The
study will be conducted by means of giving questionnaires to the student. By this study, the
researcher will be able to know the impact of how the conduciveness of learning environment
affects student performance, especially on their academics.
