name of the storage used on the other side as follows.

HDS: USP/ NSC
HP: XP12000/XP10000

Display based on the configuration of the model itself. For example, if USP V connected to

2 Slow display operation in POOL window of Storage Navigator

Phenomena In the POOL window of Storage Navigator, it took long to display the
operation menu by right clicking the Dynamic Provisioning folder.

Conditions of Occurrence The problem occurs when right clicking the Dynamic Provisioning folder
in the POOL window of Storage Navigator. Note that the more the
number of POOL or DP-VOL are, the longer it takes to display the
operation menu.

3 Inappropriate message for pairs exceeding accumulation limit

Phenomena In each Pair Operation window of TC for Open or z/OS of Storage
Navigator, if pairs tried to be accumulated in the Preview exceeded the
maximum number of pairs (8,916 pairs) to be accumulated, the
inappropriate error message "An Error occurred" appeared.
Conditions of Occurrence The problem occurs when trying to accumulate pairs that exceed the
maximum number of pairs (8,196 pairs) in the Preview in each operation
window of TC for Open or z/OS of Storage Navigator.
Causes and Updates The micro-program modified so that the error message "6010-69033" or
"6010-69034" displays to warn users that the number of pairs attempted
to accumulate exceeds the maximum.
Although the message is displayed, the apply operation is available.

4 Inappropriate error message for CHT un-installation failure
Phenomena CHT installation without CSW mounted failed. After that, for un-
installation of the CHT to recover the error, when selecting Install-
Change Configuration, an error message INS2231E, which indicates that
a logical error occurred, and could not execute the un-installation.
Performing SVP reboot made no difference.
Then, after recovering the CHT by using the Maintenance window, re-
executed the un-installation, and the message INS2213E did not occur.
Conditions of Occurrence The problem occurs when performing Install-Change Configuration with
CHT blocked.
Causes and Updates Micro-program modified so that the error message displayed for the issue
above has been changed from INS2231E (Logical error has occurred.) to
INS2788I (Error response from DKC.)

Phenomena During the suspend operation from MCU, when the PS was turned off on

turned off on RCU

Phenomena Pool recovery operation failed with SIM=602fff and SSB=af1a reported.
Note that the pool automatically recovers within an hour at the latest after
the LDEV recovery because the automatic recovery logic activates once
per hour.
Conditions of Occurrence When a COW or DP pool blocked due to LDEV blockade, the blocked
pool attempted to recover after the LDEV recovery. The problem occurs,
in that case, if the free capacity of the pool is smaller than the recovering
capacity.

Phenomena When an SI pair using DP existed, if PS Off and then volatile PS On were
performed, the log SSB=2100, 221b continued to be output. In addition,
after the volatile PS On, TC unable to delete the SI pair.

Phenomena According to the current specification, when operation performed in the
Battery De-Stage Mode, a blackout for 60 or less seconds does not affect
a host I/O. However, due to a micro-program failure, LDEV sometimes
blocked by DKU power off occur even at a temporary blackout for
between 52 and 60 seconds.
(After that, battery recovery occurred and the LDEV automatically
recovered.)
Conditions of Occurrence The problem occurs with all the following conditions met, but depending
on the timing of power failure occurrence.
1. Battery De-Stage Mode is On
2. A blackout for between 52 and 60 seconds occurs
16 ABEND dump output at reset during TC/TCA/HUR execution

Phenomena During the operation of TC Sync, TC Async, or UR, if a reset occurred,
the Abend dump sometimes was output after around 15 minutes.

Phenomena If the configuration of Parity Group and LDEV was large, when any of
the nodes shown below was selected in the Performance Management
window, the Waiting dialog window was displayed and it took long,
sometimes more than 50 minutes, to complete the display of the monitor
window.
Node to be selected:
- In the LDEV tab the Subsystem or Parity Group folder
- In the Physical tab, the Subsystem, Parity Group, External folder, or
each tree node of Parity Group or External Group.
Conditions of Occurrence The problem occurs with either of the following condition #1 or #2 met,
and when displaying the monitoring data by selecting any of the folder or
tree nodes shown in #3.
1.The configuration where a virtual volume group exists, and the
maximum number of Parity Groups is created in the group
2. A configuration where the maximum number of LDEV is created in the
Parity Group
3. Folder or tree node to be selected in the following tabs of Performance
Management window:
- In the LDEV tab the Subsystem or Parity Group folder
- In the Physical tab, the Subsystem, Parity Group, External folder, or

Phenomena At the time of LDEV format request, the input parameter of VDEV# was
invalid, and therefore a failure recovery process performs and invalid

1. The input VDEV# at Format parameter creation is out of the range
(The function of acquiring VDEV discrete information fails.)
2. The VDEV# imputed at Format parameter creation is out of the range
(Inconsistent with the value set in Page#22.)
3. The number of discrete VDEV calculated by using the input VDEV# at
Format parameter creation is out of the range (Invalid number of discrete
VDEV)

Phenomena During an I/O operation to a TC Sync pair, the reported Check Condition
did not contain Sense Data.

Phenomena When the MP reboots at Non Stop SCSI micro-program exchange, the
current value of Mode Page initializes to the default value. In that case,
the host set the current value again with the Mode Select command, and
Parameter Change UA returns to another host.
Conditions of Occurrence The problem occurs when performing Non Stop SCSI micro-program
exchange.
Causes and Updates Micro-program modified so that the current value of Mode Page not
initialized in this case.

24 No operation trace for analysis at SVP failure

Phenomena SVP went down due to SVP Fail Over. At that time, no trace operation
occurred in a file before the SVP PS Off, so there was no way of
analyzing the processing.
Causes and Updates Micro-program modified to improve the trace information collection at
SSVP PS OFF. In this case, when the communication failure occurs, the
HDD cache spewed out forcibly while the trace is output.

Phenomena The deletion of a COW pair failed with WCHK1 reported.
Conditions of Occurrence The problem occurs when a hardware failure occurs (CHK1 or CHK3)
during the deletion of a COW pair.

26 Backup failure or one-side SM blockade due to battery run out

Phenomena After the PS Off, operation ended normally, if AC PS broke down, the
battery power consumed for SM memory backup.
When the battery power consumed, if a PS failed soon after the power
cycle, the backup for a specified time not guaranteed. Also, if the interval
time period between the PS OFF and PS ON was long, the battery power
might run out that led to one side of SM to be volatilized, which means
that one side of SM was blocked.
1. A system PS failure occurs before the battery is charged to full
2. A battery runs out because the interval between PS OFF and PS ON
exceeds the backup time period that is mentioned in the maintenance
manual

31 TC pair suspend at S-VOL read during update or initial copy
Phenomena 1. During the copy operation using TC Sync/Async for z/OS or Open, if
the S-VOL was read, SSB logs indicating CHK2 detection were
sometimes output, including EC=0xB2FF, 0x3570, or 0xD30D
2. In the case of #1, if CHK2 exceeded the threshold, which is 128 times
per day per MP, the MP was blocked
3. In the case of #2, if all the MPs on the path used for TC were blocked,
the TC pair was suspended

Phenomena When using the LUN function of SVP, if performing the procedure below

was supposed to be non-clickable. Note that the LUN not defined even
with the Set button clicked.
1. Open the Add LUN window
2. All the LDEV under the CU are registered in the group (No LDEV was
listed in the LDEV list)
3. Select CU:LDEV other than those in #2, which activates the Set button
4. Select the CU in #2 again, then the Set button becomes clickable
Conditions of Occurrence The problem occurs with the following procedure performed.
1. Open the Add LUN window
2. Find all the LDEV under the CU are registered in the group (No LDEV
is listed in the LDEV list)
3. Select CU:LDEV other than those in #2, which activates the Set button
