diameter corresponding to eight five (85)% and fifteen (15) %, respectively, passing (by weitght) in grain size

analysis, curve.

The fraction passing the 0.075 mm (#200) sieve shall not be greater than two third of the fraction passing the

0.425 mm (#40).

The fraction passing 0.425 (#40) sieve shall have a Liquid Limit of not greater than 25and PI of 6 or less.

Sand equivalent for all classes shall be 25 minimum. (AASHTO T - 176)

Oversize should be screened. No hand picking allowed. However if less than 5%, hand picking may be

allowed by the Engineer.

Spreading thickness should be 15 cm. But it should not be less than 7.5 cm or more than 15 cm. If more

thickness is required then tow or more layers should be speread.

The relative Compaction should be more than 98% of maximum dry density (Proctor). AASHTO T - 191
