indicators of these changes?
With regards to curriculum enrichment, effective
intervention material and teaching strategies will be
developed to help the learners learn best at each pace of
their learning progress.

Through this project, the 130 Grade 7 learners

identified to have difficulty in solving word problems
involving four fundamental operations will be satisfied on
doing what makes them learn best. They will further feel
like they are starting to love Mathematics especially in the
aspect of problem solving.

Consequently, the learners may more likely to perform

better with the test results as indicators when given task to
solve problems involving the four fundamental operations.

Finally, engagement of parents and other stakeholders

will be evident in terms of provision of materials and
equipment that will be utilized in the conduct of the project.

Title of Application Project PROJECT HAPS

(Heuristics Application to Problem Solving)

PROJECT OBJECTIVE/S: The objective of this project is to reduce the number of

SMART-Specific, measurable, identified Grade 7 learners who find difficulty in solving
attainable, result-oriented and problems involving the four fundamental operations from
with timeframe 130 to 13 (90%) by the month of April, 2018.

Start date The starting date of the project was on January 8, 2018

Length of project
The project should be completed The project will be completed in three months.
within 3 to 6 months.

Expected Outputs At the end of the implementation of this project:

1. There will be a manifestation of an improved problem

solving skills through the application of heuristics among
the 130 identified Grade 7 learners who find difficulty in
solving problems involving the four fundamental
operations

2. Learners who will undergo this project will be able to

devise their own heuristics in solving problems.

3. Identified learners will be confident when faced again

with problem solving activities involving the four
fundamental operations.

4. There will be a 100% cooperation among Mathematics

teachers, and

5. There will be at least 90% expected support from parents

and other stakeholders in the implementation of the project.

Beneficiary/ies Every project is impractical unless it gears towards a

positive result. If problem solving skills of the learners are
reinforced, future mathematical competencies will be more
likely addressed. This project hopes to benefit the following
groups:

Learners with problem solving difficulty. They will be

given close attention as their difficulties are addressed
along with the effective intervention. Accordingly, they will
be able to assist what heuristics will best fit their learning
needs and preferences. They will be able to feel
accomplished after overcoming such difficulty.

Teachers. They will become more aware in the different

heuristics in order to assist the learners. In return, teachers
may increase their knowledge regarding content and
pedagogy to better serve the learners with utmost quality
learning experiences.

Principals. As instructional leaders, they may include such

intervention program as part of the activities in the annual
implementation plan where they can collaboratively design
a systematic approach to address the concern and tap the
potentials of their teachers.

Parents. As the school’s partners in supporting life-long

learners, parents will be informed on how significant their
support is in improving the problem solving skills of their
children. They could be of great help in extending follow
ups at home and through constant communication of
observable positive behaviors.

Identify Success Indicators or This project will be a success when the following indicators
measures of success have been achieved and verified through unbiased means

1. There shall have at least 30% increase of post test

results.
2. There shall have at least three (3) heuristics that will
be developed and utilized as strategies in problem
solving.
3. There shall have a 100% Mathematics teachers’
participation and at least 90% parents’ involvement
through record of contacts, follow ups and
feedbacks.
4. The allocated amount of Php 2,000.00 shall have
efficiently utilized.

B. Action Steps -
Identify significant Milestone targets that could be achieved by the end of 30 days and every
30 days thereafter. Milestones are (a) significant changes achieved; and/or, (b) major steps
taken towards achieving the desired improvement in your school
