DESCRIPTIVE TEXT
1. Definition of Descriptive Text
Descriptive Text is a text which says what a person or a thing is like. Mostly it is
about visual experience.

2. Purpose of Descriptive text


To describe a particular person, animal, thing or place.

3. Generic Structure of Descriptive Text


When writing descriptive text, there are some generic structures The arrangement is:
a Identification: (contains about the introduction of a person, place, animal or object
will be described.)
b Description: contains a description of something such as animal, things, place or
person by describing its features, forms, colors, or anything related to what the writer
describe.

4. Language Feature of Descriptive Text


a Specific participant : has a certain object, is not common and unique (only one). for
example: Bandengan beach, my house, Borobudur temple, uncle Jim
b The use of the adjective (an adjective) to clarify the noun, for example: a beautiful
beach, a handsome man, the famous place in jepara, etc.
c Action verb: verbs that show an activity (for example, run, sleep, walk, cut etc….
d Using simpel present tense. Misalnya: He has a pointed nose; it is so big; etc.

4. Example of descriptive text
Rowan Atkinson “Mr. Bean”
I have one favorite comedian. His real name is Rowan Sebastian Atkinson. He was
born in England, the sixth of January, nineteen fifty-five.

He has short straight black hair and pointed noise. He has fairly skin. He also has big
ears and round eyes, it makes him look so funny. The people usually know him as Mr. Bean.
I really like his character as Mr. Bean so I never feel bored to watch The Mr. Bean Series,
although this series was played to many times in Television.

Teddy is Mr. Bean's teddy bear and perhaps Mr. Bean's best friend. The little brown
bear is a knitted oddity with button eyes and sausage-shaped limbs, which invariably end up
broken in half or in various other states of destruction and disfiguration. Although Teddy is
inanimate, Mr. Bean often pretends it is alive. For example, when Mr. Bean hypnotises
Teddy, he snaps his fingers and the bear's head falls backwards as if it had fallen asleep
instantly (Bean used his finger to prop Teddy's head up).

passed away. She has a younger brother. His name is Rahmat. In order to help their father,
Rahmi and her brother work part-time to earn some money. Rahmi sells food during our class
break, while her brother sells newpapers and magazines after school.

One thing that I always admire about her is that she can manage her time well, and she

smart to make a tasty food. I loved food made by her especially her fried chicken.
My mom is also good with others. She is happy to help friends and neighbors who are
in trouble. Because she has a very high social soul, my mom always takes pity on people who
