DRILLING PRACTICES
• Injection rate at time of collaring will
be elevated initially to ensure fines are
coated out well to help bind cuttings. Air
pressure should be limited to low levels
to prevent additional damage to the top
section of the hole
• Injection rates will depend on hole
diameter and natural moisture in the
ground. Injection rates should be kept at
the low end of the scale
• Hammer oil usage should be increased
by between 10-20% with introduction of
any foreign materials such as water, AMC
SUPERFOAM™, BHS etc…
• Hole curing – towards the end of the
planned hole depth, injection of the
BHS fluid should be halted and air only
injected until the hole is completely
dry. This allows the product to set and
maximises the products performance.
MINE ENGINEERING
• Representative sampling at the collar –
BHS encapsulates drilled cuttings thereby
prevent degradation of the cuttings that
form the collar. Samples taken from the
collar for analysis are more representative
• Minimises explosive volume (gauge hole
& reduced over drill) – BHS helps to drill
an in-gauge hole and also prevents the
need to over drill, the volume of the hole
to be filled with explosives is minimised.
