(One Half of a Whole)

o Reference: K to 12 Lesson Guide. Math pg. 18-21
o Materials:
 Bread knife, Cut-outs, pictures, real objects, chart, pocket chart,
audio visual materials.

Flash cards of different shapes.
Group Game (each group will name as
many objects as they can with the
given shape.)

I have here a set of flash cards of different

shapes. These set of shapes are inside the box,
you need to name objects as many as you can
with the given shape the group with the most
number of correct objects wins.

Group 1- Circle
Group 2- Square
Group 3- Triangle

C. Posing the problem

Show a picture of two children.
 The names of the children are Karen and
Carlo.

“This is Carlo. Carlo has a piece of Carlo has piece of bread.

Now, I have some objects or materials, tell me

what these objects in my hand.

Now, I will cut these into two equal parts.

Each part of these objects. This is what we call
“fraction”.

shape is divided into two equal parts.
