1.0 INTRODUCTION

This method statement describes the construction procedures, including material,

machinery and equipment required for the site clearing work as shown in the
construction drawing. The intention of the method statement is to give a general
guideline for the site clearing work. Details of the procedures contained herein may
be reviewed periodically based on actual site conditions and requirements.

2.0 SCOPE OF WORK

This method statement describes the site clearing work for the engineering remedial
works to slopes at tower SMD39, Selangau-Matadeng 132kV transmission line. The
scope of work includes survey setting site clearing, grubbing, stripping of topsoil, etc.

3.3 Material

4.0 CONSTRUCTION PROCEDURE

4.1 Site Clearing, Grubbing and Stripping Topsoil

• Prior to the site clearing work, setting out of the right of way and limit of
works shall be carried out by the licensed surveyor.
• Site clearing works only carried out within the right of way and limit of works
area that approved by the SO.
• Site Clearing work shall consist of the cutting and/or taking down, removal
and disposal of everything above ground level, including objects
overhanging the areas to be cleared such as tree branches.
• The material to be cleared shall include but not limited to trees, logs, brush,
undergrowth, long grasses, crops, loose vegetable matter.
• Grubbing shall consist of the removal and disposal of surface vegetation, the
bases of stumps, roots, the underground parts of structures, and other
obstructions to a depth of at least 0.5m below the original ground level.
• Striping topsoil shall consist of the removal of topsoil to an average depth
of at least 100mm below ground level.
• Clearing, grubbing and stripping topsoil shall be carried out in all areas of
remedial works construct.
• Site clearing shall not be done to the whole area within the R.O.W all at once.
• Site clearing shall only be carried out at the areas where works are intended
to be done for that day. The cleared area shall be covered up with canvas if
there are remaining works to be done
• No open burning should be allowed unless approval has been attained from
the Director General of Environment or Controller of National Resources
and Environment Board (NREB).
4.2 Disposal of Material

• Any unsuitable material from clearing, grubbing and stripping topsoil

(including the demolition of structures) shall be disposed and dumped at
the area as approved by the S.O.

5.0 Quality Assurance and Quality Control

• The site clearing works shall be carried out using Site preparation, Site clearing
and Earthworks Inspection Form, Document No: FM-PRO-03 and to ensure the
finishing every work shall be accepted by S.O
• Work Inspection Request shall be submitted within 24hours prior to work
inspection.
