 My Island Project

You will be work, IN CLASS, to create a detailed and colorful

map of an island that only exists in your imagination.

This needs to be completed by the END OF CLASS______.

 The map of your island needs to include:
● A title
● A compass Rose
● Legend/Key
● A clear coast line, with a LABELED body of water that
surrounds it
● At least 3 different TYPES of landform, named and
labeled
● NEAT coloring with colored pencils or crayon. NO
MARKERS
 In addition, you will also have to describe your Island by filling out a
chart that will be attached to the side of your map.
You will describe your island based off the following things

● 5 themes of geography
○ Place- what does it look like when you get there?
○ Location- what is its absolute location?
○ Region- what are some regions you find there?
○ Movement - evidence of movement
○ Human environment interaction- examples of H.E.I.
● Landforms and water
○ List and describe the specific landforms and bodies of water you included
● Climate
○ What type of climate is it, specific name and description?
○ What type of vegetation is located there?
How are you going to do this.
1. Decide what you want your Island to look like.
2. Where do you want it to be located?
3. Using the provided paper, draw the outline of the island.
4. Write the title above the island.
a. The title should be the name of your island
5. Begin adding the required elements to your map.
6. Make sure you have included all of the required elements.
7. LABEL THE REQUIRED ELEMENTS
8. Color the map AS NEATLY AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN.
