For Environmental Protection:

We take all reasonable steps to protect the environment (both on and off the Site)
and to limit damage and nuisance to people and property resulting from pollution,
noise and other results of his operations. We also ensure that emissions, surface
discharges and effluent from our activities shall not exceed the values stated in the
Specification or prescribed by applicable Laws.
Hot Mix Plants should be located at least 1 Km from the nearest habitation unless
otherwise required by statutory requirements. Vehicles .and machinery used for road
construction is to be regularly maintained to confirm to SPCB (State Pollution Control
Board) norms. Blasting as per Indian Explosive Act will be adopted. People living near such
blasting sites should have prior information of operation hours. Workers at blasting sites will
be provided with earplugs. Vehicles transporting earth materials will be covered. Water
shall be spread to suppress the dust.
Site camps shall be properly located to avoid contamination of water through wastewater
drainage into river and canals. Seasonal pollution issues may arise when flow of river is
slow. To prevent such contamination. Wastewater generated at the campsite will be
discharged in soak pits. For human excreta, proper disposal through Septic Tanks or deep
trenches will be done.
Degraded materials and wastewater shall be disposed into the Septic Tank and soak pits
etc. We are make arrangements to clean up spoil as soon as work finishes in a stretch. If
such sites are located outside the ROW, restoration of the site to a level acceptable to the
landowner will be done within time period agreed between the landowner with us. Spilling
of oil and bituminous products during the construction phase will be avoided to reduce the
chances of contamination of surface as well as ground water. The construction camps has
situated at places involving the least risks to nature considering factors such as ground
slopes and underground water table, and shall confirm to local building regulations, as
applicable.
The arrangements for the source of supply of material for embankment and subgrade,
meeting the prescribed specifications as well as compliance to the different environmental
requirements in respect of excavation and borrow areas as stipulated, from time to time, by
the Ministry of Environment and Forest, government of India and the local bodies, as
applicable
We are providing the following facilities for workers & staffs:
In every workplace, there shall be provided and maintained at suitable places easily
accessible to labour, a sufficient supply of cold water fit for drinking.

Adequate washing and bathing places has provided separately for men and women. Such
places shall be kept in clean and drained pollution.

A cooked food canteen on a moderate scale shall be provided for the benefit of workers
wherever it is considered necessary.

We are paying rates of wages, and observe conditions of labour, which are not lower than
those established for the trade or industry where the work is carried out.

Conduct Health checkup camps in proper intervals by team of qualified doctors.


For Safety Provisions:

We comply with all the precautions as required for the safety of the workmen by the
I.L.O. Convention No. 62 as far as they are applicable to the Contract. We provide all
necessary safety appliances such as safety goggles, helmets, masks, etc. to the
workmen and the staff.
Excavation and Trenching: All trenches, 1.5 meters or more in depth, shall at all times be
supplied with at least one ladder for each 20 meters in length or fraction thereof. Ladders
shall be extended from the bottom of the trench to at least 1 meter above the surface of the
ground. The sides of a trench, which is 1.5 meters or more in depth shall be stepped back
to provide a suitable slope, or be securely held by timber bracing so as to avoid the danger
of side collapse. Excavated material shall not be placed within 1.5 meters of the edge of
any trench or half the depth of the trench whichever is more. Excavation shall be made
from the top to the bottom. Under no circumstances shall undermining or undercutting be
done.
All necessary personal safety equipment as considered adequate by the Engineer shall be
available for use of persons employed on the Site and maintained in a condition suitable for
immediate use; and the Contractor shall take adequate steps to ensure proper use of such
equipment by those concerned.
Workers employed on mixing asphaltic materials, cement, lime mortars, concrete etc. shall
be provided with protective footwear and protective goggles.
Those engaged in handling any material, which is injurious to the eyes, shall be provided
with protective goggles.
Those engaged in welding works shall be provided with welder's protective eye-shield.
Stone breakers shall be provided with protective goggles and protective clothing and
sealed at sufficiently safe intervals.
We not employ men below the age of 18 years and women, on the work of painting with
products containing lead in any form. Whenever men above the age of 18 years are
employed on the work of lead painting, the following precautions shall be taken:
No paint containing lead or lead products shall be used except in the form of paste or
ready-made paint.
Suitable face masks shall be supplied for use by workers when paint is applied in the form
of spray or a surface having lead paint dry rubbed and scraped.
Overalls shall be supplied by us to workmen and adequate facilities shall be provided to
enable workers to wash during and at the close of any day's work.

When work is performed near any place where there is risk of drowning all necessary
equipment shall be provided and kept ready for use and all necessary steps taken for
prompt first aid treatment of all injuries likely to be sustained during the course of the work.

Use of hoisting machines and tackle including their attachments, anchorage and supports
shall conform to the following:
(A) (i) These shall be of good mechanical construction, sound material and adequate
strength and free from patent defects and shall be kept in good working order be
regularly inspected and properly maintained
(ii) Every rope used in hoisting or lowering materials or as a means of suspension
shall be of durable quality and adequate strength, and free from defects.
(B) Every crane driver or hoisting appliance operator shall be properly qualified and no
person under the age of 21 shall be in charge of any hoisting machine including
scaffold equipment. Only trained men over the age of 21 shall be permitted to give
signals to such plant and appliance operators.
(C) For every hoisting machine and every chain hook, shackle, swivel and pulley block
used in hoisting, lowering or as means of suspension, safe working load shall be
ascertained by adequate means. Every hoisting machine and all gear referred to
above shall be plainly marked with safe working load. In case of a hoisting machine or
a variable safe working load, each safe working load and conditions under which it is
applicable shall be clearly indicated. No part of any machine or any gear referred to in
the paragraph above shall be loaded beyond safe working load except for the
purpose of testing.

We at our own expense provide footwear for all labour engaged on concrete mixing work
and all other types of working involving the use of tar, cement.

At every workplace, there shall be mentioned in readily accessible place first aid appliances
including an adequate supply of sterilized dressings and sterilized cotton, wool as
prescribed in the Factory Rules of the State in which the work is carried on. The appliances
shall be kept in good order and, in large work places; they shall be placed under the charge
of a responsible person who shall be readily available during working hours.

For Traffic safety Signs (Regulatory, Warning & Direction)


proper signs of proper color, dimension and messages with proper material, paint and
adhesive, and durability have been provided as directed by the Engineer i.e. diversion &
cautionary boards, safety cones & ribbons, barricades with red light & flagmans at both
ends of working site. signs have been installed properly on ground or overhead including
proper road markings with approved paint and color by Using of semi reflectory paints in
boards with proper size of lettering & Signs and fixed according angles and colors.
Providing Granular road of 6 mt. wide for diversion where traffic is obstruct at road.

For ensuring of proper implementation of Environmental Safety manual, we appoint


a full time qualified and experienced Environmental and Safety Officer (ESO) from
the commencement to completion of the project.
The responsibilities of ESO are including the following:
Directly reporting to the Project Manager of the Contractor;
Discussing various environmental issues and environmental mitigation, enhancement and
monitoring actions with all concerned directly or indirectly;
Prepare Contractor’s EMP, traffic management plan and safety plan as part of their Work
Program;
Ensure contractor’s compliance with the EMP stipulations and conditions of statutory
bodies;
Assisting his project manager to ensure environmentally sound and safe construction
practices;
Assisting his project manager to ensure the timely procurement of materials that are
included in the Bill of Quantities relating to environmental mitigation and enhancement
measures;
Conducting periodic environmental and safety training for contractor’s engineers,
supervisors and workers;
Preparing a registers for material sources, labour, pollution monitoring results, public
complaint and as may be directed by the Engineer;
Assisting the PIU on various environmental monitoring and control activities including
pollution monitoring; and
Preparing and submitting monthly reports to SC on status of implementation safeguard
measures.
