Gaffey Training

A database is required for Gaffey Training to hold information about the

courses that they run, the organisations who book their employees on the
courses and the delegates themselves. Also information is required about
tutors. The database must have facilities to book delegates on courses and
add new organisations, delegates and courses to the system. The
management require information from the system, such as; delegate lists,
courses running at a particular time, popular and unpopular courses and
delegates who attend more than one course.

The system must supply information about delegates on courses, delegate

badges and reports showing the courses that are currently running. A search
is required for this information, e.g. specific course. The system would also
produce management reports as needed.

The inputs to the database system will be the organisation data, e.g. name,
address, tel no, email, etc., the delegate information and the course
information. When a course is to be run a new ‘course running’ record will
need to be added to the system to allow delegates to be booked onto that
course. Details about new bookings will be added to the system via a data
entry booking form. Details about courses, organisations and delegates will
be added using the keyboard via a data entry form.

The processing that the system must perform is:

 Adding, amending and deleting course records
 Adding, amending and deleting organisation records
 Adding, amending and deleting delegate records
 Adding, amending and deleting booking records
 Updating the number of people booked on a course
 Searching for unpopular courses, e.g. <5 people booked
 Cancelling a course and booking records
 Searching for a specific course to print a delegate list and badges

Security issues need to be addressed. Gaffey training need to backup their

database system regularly and make archives of old course information.
Backups of the system must be held in a secure place.
