STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

Earthquake is one of the phenomena that can cause massive

destruction. Earthquake can kill thousands of people. Most of
earthquake deaths are related to the lack of admonishment because
of the unpredictable shaking of the ground. We can escape this
catastrophe by setting up an alarming device in our locality.

Based on The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and

Seismology(PHIVOLCS) During the last two decades, the Philippines
has suffered several devastating earthquakes. In 1968, 200 people
died when the Ruby Tower collapsed in a 7.3 magnitude earthquake in
Manila. More than 6,000 people died when a tsunami caused by a 7.9
magnitude earthquake in the Moro Gulf hit them in 1976. Then we had
the July 16, 1990 earthquake whose devastation is so far unequaled
in deaths, property damage and psychological shock happened.

According to the Department of Science and Tecnology(DOST) we

may be experience an unexpected earthquake with a magnitude of no
less than 7.2 or they call it The Big One, there are specific locations
that are considered the most susceptible because of their proximity
the so called West Valley Fault so that we need to look forward in our
community even in our own home.

Being the member of Pacific Ring of Fire, The Department of

Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) says that earthquakes
will tame through preparedness and risk management and According
to Dr. Renato U. Solidum, Jr., director of DOST-PHIVOLCS, that the
“Key to peopleʼs awareness and preparedness for earthquakes, is
contingency planning for disaster response" meaning that it is our
obligation to stimulate in our locale suggesting to put an alarming
device to snitch us.

With all this input, this paper states that problems concerning that
the earthquake may cause detriment and unpredictable. We need to
be prepared for an upcoming disastrous event by installing an
alarming device in your home.
