1. Brief Introduction
With this software, you can define the voice type of the channel broadcast for the portable radio or
mobile radio. This software helps you to convert your defined audio files to the audio data and write the
data into the radio, in order to make the channel broadcast of the radio more flexible and expandable.

2. Before Use
2.1 Prerequisite
Please prepare the resources in the following list for actual requirements before defining the channel
broadcasting audio files.

Operating System: Windows Vista/ Windows XP/ Windows 7


This guide takes Windows XP as the example.

PC Make sure the PC is installed with a USB driver. Otherwise, please install
the USB driver first, with reference to the Hytera USB Driver Installation
User Guide of V2.01.01.008.

The Voice Tool software is included in the program of CPS R5.0 or above.

CPS Please make sure the CPS is installed properly before using this software.

In this guide, we take CPS V5.00.xx.xxx as the example.

The software is applicable to the radio of R5.0 or above. In this guide, we

take PD78X with both Chinese and English audio data as the example.

2.2 Requirement on Audio Files


Requirement on audio files:

 This software only supports the sound in .wav format. Meanwhile, set the audio files to the format of
mono, 16 Bit and 8000Hz.

 Each audio file cannot exceed 32Kb, and the total size of all the audio files must be within 512Kb.

3.1 Adding Audio Files
Step 1 At the left bottom of the PC, select “Start -> All Programs -> Hytera RCPs -> Customer
Programming Software -> VoiceTool”, and open the Voice Tool software, as shown below.

If the following window doesn’t appear, please refer to “4 FAQ”.

Step 2 Connect PD78X to the PC, and turn on PD78X.

Caution: To add the audio files smoothly, do not disconnect the radio and the PC during
this process.

Step 3 In the Voice Tool interface, select the USB port (e.g.: USB1) from the dropdown list beside

“USB Port”.

This port is for the connection between the PD78X and the PC. When multiple radios are
connected to the PC, the USB port number is subject to the connection sequence. For example,
the first connected radio corresponds to USB1.

Step 4 Click “Read” and the software will start to export the audio data from the PD78X. After the

software reads the data, a box will pop up for saving the file in .bin format. See the following
figure.

Step 5 Select the path to save the file (e.g.: E:\VoiceTool), name the file such as CHVoices and click
“Save”.

Now:

 In the local directory, E:\VoiceTool, will produce a file, CHVoices.bin, and a folder named
Resource with the audio files in it. If you find error when writing the data into the radio,
please send the .bin file to our company for help.

 The existing broadcast languages in the PD78X and the saving path of the audio files will all
be displayed in the Voice Tool interface. See the following figure.

Note: If you want to revise an audio file in the list, please follow the steps below:

1. Click the path of the file and the icon will appear at the end of the path.
2. Click the icon and select the audio file in .wav format.

Step 6 Prepare the audio files.

Create a new folder (e.g.: French) in the Resource folder. Put the audio files into this new
folder.

Caution:

 Each created folder must contain 16 audio files in .wav format, and the total size of the
Resource folder (including the audio files exported from the radio and the to-be-added
ones) must be within 512Kb.

 To import the batch of files successfully, please name the files 1.wav, 2.wav,…, 16.wav in
order based on the broadcast contents.

Step 7 Select the language type of the audio files.

1. Click the required language (e.g.: French) from the box on the top left of the Voice Tool
interface to select it.

2. Click to add the selected language into the language box on the right. Now a tab
named after the selected language will appear above the audio file list. See the parts in the
orange circles below:

Note: By clicking you can delete your selected language from the box on the right.
Meanwhile, the corresponding audio files in the audio file list will be deleted as well.

Step 8 Click to choose the folder (E:\VoiceTool\Resource\French) of the audio files to be


added, and import the files to the Voice Tool as shown below.

Caution:
 In the list above, each No. is corresponding to a channel number. For instance, No.1 is
corresponding to Channel 1. Thus, please ensure the broadcast contents are correct.
 The audio files will be imported in a sequence of their names.

Step 9 (Optional) add audio files of other languages following the steps in .

You can add the files of 10 languages at most.

Step 10 (Optional) save the file information into the configuration file.

To set the information of the audio files quickly, you can save all the information, including the
language type and the saving path of the files, into the configuration file in .ipc format by
selecting “File -> Save Configuration File” at the top left corner of the Voice Tool. You can
import the configuration file to the software when you need. Go to “File -> Open Configuration
File”.

Note: By selecting “File -> New” you can create a configuration file to save the audio file
information.

Step 11 (Optional) convert the audio files to the audio data.

You can convert the audio files into .bin format by pressing “Convert” in the Voice Tool. The .bin
file contains all the audio data. Write the audio data of the .bin file into the radio. If you find
error when writing the data, please send the .bin file to our company for help.

Step 12 Click “Write” and the audio files will be converted to the audio data which will be written into the

PD78X.

When the data is written, the PD78X will restart automatically to make the data effective.

Step 13 After the writing is complete, please close the Voice Tool.

3.2 Setting the Broadcast Sound


Step 1 Run the CPS and enter its main interface as shown below.

Step 2 Select “Program -> Read From Radio” or click , you will see the pop-up “Communication
Port” dialogue box as follows.

Step 3 Select the corresponding USB port (e.g.: USB1) for the PD78X, and click “OK” to enter the

“Read” dialogue box as follows.

After the data of the PD78X is read, the radio information will appear in the left tree-view of the
CPS main interface. See the following figure:

Step 4 Select “Common -> Setting”, and set the value of the parameter “Channel/Group Notify
Language” in the “Basic” box.

Step 5 After selecting the language, select “Program -> Write To Radio” or click , and the
“Communication Port” box will pop up.

Step 6 Click “OK” to write the language information into the PD78X. When the information is written,

the PD78X will restart automatically to make the setting effective.

Caution:
 The broadcast language can only be configured via the CPS rather than the menu in the
radio.

 The language set via the radio menu “Settings -> Radio Set -> Language” is only the
display language of the radio.

4. FAQ
4.1 Opening the voice tool software failed
Phenomenon
At the left bottom of the PC, select “Start -> All Programs -> Hytera RCPs -> Customer Programming
Software -> VoiceTool”, but the voice tool software cannot be opened.
Analysis
The voice tool software fails to register automatically during the installation of CPS.
Solution
Please register the voice tool software as the following steps.

Step 1 Get the target of CPS.

1. Right-click the desktop shortcut of the CPS, select “Properties”, and then the
following window appears.

2. Click “Find Target” to view the installation directory of CPS.


The default target path of CPS is “C:\Program Files\Hytera\Customer Programming
Software”.

Step 2 Check whether the file MSFLGRD.OCX is in the installation directory of CPS.

 If there isn’t any, please contact our company to get the MSFLGRD.OCX file. And then do
the following steps.

 If there is the file, please do the following steps.

Step 3 At the left bottom of the PC, select “Start -> Run”, and then the following window appears.

Step 4 In command box of the “Run” window, enter register command: regsvr32 "CPS Target

path"\MSFLXGRD.OCX.

For example: regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Hytera\Customer Programming


Software"\MSFLXGRD.OCX

Caution:
 There should be space between “regsvr32” and "CPS Target path" in the register
command.

 The "CPS Target path" in the register command should be enclosed by double quotation
marks.

Step 5 Click “OK”.

If the following dialog box appears, the voice tool software has registered successfully.
Otherwise, pleasre contact our company for help.
