RISK WITH THE INCIDENCE OF ARI IN INFANTS AGED 6-24 MONTHS IN
THE DIRGAHAYU HEALTH CENTER AREA IN 2019

According to the World Health Organization (WHO) ARI is the leading cause of
child mortality in the world which causes the death of more than two million children
each year. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of exclusive
breastfeeding and environmental risk with the incidence of ARI in infants aged 6-24
months in the Puskesmas area in 2019. Analytic survey research methods with cross
sectional approach. The population was all infants aged 6-24 months in March in the
Dirgahayu Community Health Center Area in 2019 totaling 50 people. A sample of 50
people. Sampling uses the total sampling technique. Statistical test is Chi square test.
The results showed that the incidence of ARI in infants aged 6-24 months in the
Puskesmas area of Dirgahayu in 2019 was at most 22 people (44.0%). Exclusive
breastfeeding for infants aged 6-24 months in the Puskesmas area Dirgahayu In 2019
there were 26 exclusive breastfeeding (52.0%). The environmental risk in the
Puskesmas area of Dirgahayu in 2019 was the most significant, namely 31 people
(62.0%). There is a relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and the incidence of
ARI in infants aged 6-24 months in the Dirgahayu Health Center Area in 2019 (p-value
= 0.001). There is a relationship between environmental risk and the incidence of ARI
in infants aged 6-24 months in the Dirgahayu Health Center Area in 2019 (p-value =
0,000). It is expected to increase awareness about the importance of exclusive
breastfeeding for infants and avoid environmental risk factors that can cause ARI.
