My name is Abdul Qayyum. I was born on 11th August 1994 in Multan, Pakistan.

Multan is known as
City of Saints. It is also famous for its sweet Mangos. I belong to an educated family where our parents
prioritizing the education for us and the always prefer to quality education for the betterment of lives.
I always was the best among the students of class at schools in this particular field. I always felt
the challenges and thrills of solving problems. The tests where one has to reproduce what he
remembers never attracted me. I always wanted to solve problems that were complex. Due to this
natural ability of thinking in a different way I was able to be a part of scientific societies at College
and University level. This ability further enhanced my interest in the other relevant Science
subjects like Electrical Engineering.
I started my early education from my native city, Multan. As my parents always tried to provide
me the quality education and in this way they selected top ranked schools for my primary
education. Later I completed my Secondary School Certificate in 2010 and then Higher
Secondary School Certificate in 2013 from Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education
Multan. After completion of my post-secondary education I selected to start a bachelor program
(BS) in Electrical Engineering field in this regard I started my Bachelor program and selected
Electrical as my main Subject according to my desire and completed my bachelor studies of
Electrical (Power) engineering from “NFC IET Multan Pakistan” in 2017, with overall CGPA of
3.34 (76%) out of 4.00 and last 2 years percentage is (77%), I am the Registered Engineer from
Pakistan Engineering Council (Elect/62659).

My schedule at engineering college was filled with intense study and focused work for research
and a variety of technical projects like sun tracking solar panel & temperature, humidity sensor
using Arduino. I have done both individual as well as group projects. I have hands-on experience
of various simulators such as Power World Simulator, Proteus, MATLAB. My final year project
was “Online Monitoring of Leakage and Corrosion in Oil/Gas Pipeline, through Microcontroller
and Power Line Communication” I had the group of four members in which I was honored the
Group Leader. “The purpose of project is online monitoring of oil pipe line by detection of oil
leakage and pipe corrosion. In this project we detect the oil pipe line leakage and measure the
amount of leakage using flow meter and detect the corrosion of pipe by resistance comparison
method by comparing the resistance of pipe material during normal and abnormal condition. Power
line communication is carried out by transmitting data on power line at different frequencies. I
also get an A+ Grade in my undergraduate's final Project.
After my graduation I started working as Trainee in Shujabad Weaving Mills Limited and
completed my training from April 2018 to March 2019. As a Trainee Engineer, I worked on multi-
dimensional energy system related areas and gained sufficient knowledge. I carried out equipments
maintenance, Operation and Testing of Substation equipment like, Isolators, Power Transformers,
Circuit Breakers, Batteries and Power Cables. I performed different Electrical tests. For Instance,
different types of Tests on Oil Filled Transformers like (Dielectric Strength Test of Transformer
Oil, C&DF Test, Insulation Test, Earthing Test, T.T.R. test, Winding resistance tests etc) by using
multiple techniques. With my working experience I really want to more educate in this field.
Therefore I decided to start my Master degree program from a top ranked university of the world.
It will help me to contribute my utmost effort for the development of the educational system of
Pakistan. I have observed that all the top ranked universities are located in Canada, Australia, UK
and USA and IELTS is the basic requirements for admission. Therefore in a short time I appeared
in IELTS test on 1st August 2019.
In order to find the suitable university I searched in countries of my choice. I did not consider my
local universities due to their lower international ranking and lack of Research and Development
in Education sector. I searched many local universities such as Bahauddin Zakariya University,
NFC Institute of Engineering & Technology, Institute of Southern Punjab Multan, Virtual
University and many more but I found that these universities are not providing education according
to internationally recognized methods of teaching. Further while studying in local university
cannot provide me international exposure which will enhance my experience for my future work
and job. Last but not the least, the quality education from top ranked university will provide me
quality contents which I cannot learn from local universities. It is an inevitable fact that, in
Pakistan, internationally qualified professional are always preferred comparatively to the local
graduated students.
I discussed with my family members about my desire to start my bachelor degree program from
top ranked university. In this regard I calculated that Australia is the most preferable study
destination for me. I made this rationale decision based upon multipronged analysis. First of all,
Australia is an English speaking country having top ranked universities. This confirms that
Australia has quality education which is my primary desire. I came to know that Australian
Qualification Framework (AQF) is one of the world’s top ranked educational systems.
I discussed with my family members about my desire to start my bachelor degree program from
top ranked university. In this regard I calculated that Canada is the most preferable study
destination for me. I made this rationale decision based upon multipronged analysis. First of all,
Canada is an English speaking country having top ranked universities. This confirms that Canada
has quality education which is my primary desire. I believe that due to my graduate studies in
Canada will be a huge benefit for me, because it has all the factors that I am searching for: solid
curriculum, solid tradition in engineering, and great environment to do my master studies. For my
Masters in Electrical Engineering, I personally prefer to University of Calgary, Founded in 1966
and situated close to the Rocky Mountains, the University of Calgary is a public research university based
in the city of Calgary, in Alberta, Canada.
