RT890E VALVE SPOOL CHANGES

Mark (I.D.) all hoses, fittings, end caps (of Valve sections) and
plug in connectors to match each section before removing
anything. Color wire or paint markers are examples of marking
methods. The oil from the Valves will remove permanent markers.
V35 changes Hoist, Telescope and Lift manifold
USE SPOOL 348-8700-095
Main & Aux. hoist spool updates:
From left to right section 1&2

Remove Items: 19 (cap screw), 18 (end cap), 17 (tube) from both ends of section.
Remove spool from the top (if possible) and guide the spool from the bottom. There will
be a wiper seal that will come off the bottom side (“A” Port) of the spool, or it may stay
in the section. Remove it and use for re-assembly.

1
Spool change: Both hoist (section 1&2) use the same spool replacement. Replace old
spool with 348-8700-095 spool. Insert spools with indicator ring toward “B” port.
Reference picture below for spool installation. When re-assembling spring assembly,
push retainer washer (item 13) on bottom of spring to one side while turning stripper bolt
in (item 11). After stripper bolt stops align retainer washer up to center of stripper bolt
and you will get another turn or so when alignment is correct. This is done before
inserting spool into valve section. Torque to 175 in/lbs. Apply loctite (242 or equivalent)
to threads before assembly.

Slide spool subassembly back into section with spring assembly on top (“B” port)
After inserting spool assembly into section spring should be compressible by pushing
down on stripper bolt.

2
Place wiper seal (Item 5) over spool
Place Tube (item 8) with o-ring (Item 10) on spool. Tube may be on bottom cover
assembly.
Place Silver spring guide (Item 12) small O.D. down.
Place spring (Item 16) next.
Place Silver spring guide (Item 12) with small O.D. up
Place Stripper bolt (Item 11 w/loctite on threads) through spring assembly into spool
threads and torque to 175 in/lbs. Hold top stripper bolt while torque is applied.
Replace end caps and cap screws on each end of section and torque cap screws to 175
in/lbs.

3
Telescope outer mid :

Telescope Outer Mid section of V35 from left to right is section 3

USE SPOOL 348-8700-096
Remove end caps and cap screws from end of Telescope (Outer mid or Inner Mid)
section.
Remove spool from the top (if possible) and guide the spool from the bottom. There will
be a wiper seal that will come off the bottom side (“A” Port) of the spool, or it may stay
in the section. Remove it and use for re-assembly.

Spool change: Reassemble parts onto new spool as they were removed from the old
spool. Start with spring assembly on B port end of spool before inserting into section.
Apply loctite (242 or equivalent) to threads of stripper bolt before re-assembling. When
re-assembling top (“B”) spring assembly, push bottom retainer washer to one side while
turning stripper bolt in. After stripper bolt (item 11) stops align retainer washer (item 8)
up to center of stripper bolt and you will get another turn or so when alignment is correct.
Torque stripper bolt to 175 in/lbs. Reference picture below.

4
Slide spool sub-assembly back into section with spring assembly on top (“B” port)
After inserting spool assembly into section spring should be compressible by pushing
down on stripper bolt.

5
Place wiper seal (Item 3) over spool
Place seal retainer (item 4) with o-ring (item 5) on spool
Place black spring guide (item 8) with small O.D. down.
Place spring (item 10) next.
Place black spring guide (item 10) with small O.D. up
Place stripper bolt (item 6) through assembly. Apply loctite (242 or equivalent) to
stripper bolt threads and insert into spool. Torque to 175 in/lbs.
Replace covers and cap screws on each end of section and torque cap screws to 175
in/lbs.

6
Telescope Inner Mid :

Telescope Inner Mid section of V35 from left to right is section 4

USE SPOOL 348-8700-097

Assembly instructions for Telescope Inner Mid are the same as

Telescope Outer Mid except use spool 348-8700-097

7
Lift section of V35 from left to right is section 5

Use spool 348-8700-098

Remove cap screws and end caps from each end of Lift section.
Remove spool from the top and guide the spool from the bottom. There will be a wiper
seal that will come off the bottom side (“A” Port) of the spool, or it may stay in the
section. Remove it and use for re-assembly.

Spool change: Remove parts from old spool and reassemble on new spool
(348-8700-098). Assemble spring subassembly on “B” port end and install from top of
section. Apply loctite (242 or equivalent) to threads of stripper bolt before re-assembling
on spool. Assemble spring assembly on “B” end first. This spool must be installed with
“B” port towards top (“B” work port).

8
THIS SPOOL MUST BE INSERTED WITH “B” PORT OF SPOOL TOWARD TOP
OF LIFT SECTION. Assemble the “B” end of the spool first (reference picture above.
Then slide spool assembly in from the top of section 5 (Lift). When re-assembling spring
assembly, push retainer washer (Item 17) to one side while turning stripper bolt in. After
stripper bolt (item 15) stops align retainer washer (item17) to center of bolt and you will
get another turn or so when alignment is correct. Torque to 175 in/lbs.

Slide spool back into section with spring assembly on top (“B” port)
After inserting spool assembly into section spring should be compressible by pushing
down on stripper bolt.

Bottom of spool assembly

Place wiper seal over spool
Place seal retainer with o-ring on spool
Place black spring guide with small O.D. down.
Place spring next.
Place black spring guide with small O.D. up
Place stripper bolt through assembly. Apply loctite (242 or equivalent) to stripper bolt
threads and insert into spool. Torque to 175 in/lbs.
Replace covers and cap screws on each end of section and torque cap screws to 175
in/lbs.
