· Hydraulics analysis for optimum hole cleaning with the amount of pressure limitation imposed by rig
mud pumps, liner sizes, and D sizes.
· Collaborate (input and output) with other service companies (mud, cement, directional drilling, etc.).
· Drillable options will be identified within the constraint of rig, hole geometry, and BHA limitations
(kick tolerance, MAASP, and limitations on pop-off valve).
· Planning for jet nozzle optimization.
Tubular analysis
· Involve in peer review for tubular design using software and manual calculation only.
Drillstring integrity
· Hydraulics will be modeled using the drilling parameter (ROP, flow rate, RPM), cuttings density and
mud properties. The ECD will be plotted and compared to actual reading from monitoring downhole
tools.
· Discuss the analysis with drilling team and inform the monitoring engineers on any issues.
· Calculate the swab and surge for tripping drillstring, and more importantly the running of casings.
Deliver the limited tripping time to the rig according to the condition.
Drillstring Integrity
· Calculate and track the torque for each of the critical component in the string with reference from
the surface torque and the plotted friction factor.
· Calculate the minimum WOB that will cause buckling and inform the monitoring engineer of the
limitations.
· Model the expected torque and drag trend lines for each of the string runs for both the drilling and
completion.
· Inform the monitor of the limitations on WOB and margin of overpull to not exceed the buckling or
yield limit of the pipe.
Post Well Analysis
· Summary report of hydraulics performance, deviation from model, hole cleaning, induced
swab/surge, etc. in collaboration with engineers.
Drillstring Integrity
· Deliver the lessons learned regarding the string configuration and how it affected the drilling or the
string or both.
· Relate any vibrations that could have been cause by the string being in buckling (if applicable).
· Deliver plotted actual data to the calculated hook load and torque trends (if available) for drilling
and tripping operations. This will be included in the EOWR.
