Career Guidance Week

Frank Parsons is the founding father of Vocational Guidance. He created the first methodology of
Career Guidance which now serves as a guide in conducting the Career Guidance week among
schools. He developed the approach to help students acquire the attitude, skills and knowledge that
will help them understand themselves. This will also help them in exploring post-secondary education
and career options that will eventually result into making informed decisions with developing plans to
achieve career aspirations.
Tubod National High School yearly conducts a Career Guidance Week to Grade 10 and Grade 12
students. This is facilitated by the Guidance counselors, Grade 10 and 12 advisers, and speakers
invited by the guidance counselors. Students will have a chance to rediscover and assess themselves
and eventually find out their strengths and weaknesses. This will help them decide on what career path
to choose after graduation.
Mr. Charles Matthew T. Japitan, the Senior High School Guidance Counselor distributed the 8 modules
to the teachers who served as the facilitators of the entire process. The modules consist of varied
activities that help them discover and focus on their strength by identifying their intelligence based on
the Multiple Intelligences by Howard Gardner. Their NAT Results were also distributed

The Career Guidance Week was culminated by a program which encouraged students to wear the
uniform that they view themselves wearing in the future. Most of the female students wore the uniform
of a nurse and a teacher and male students mostly look forward to becoming successful businessman,
policeman, and seafarers.
Facilitators the ones who facilitates the students, throughout the entire processes for one week. Mrs.
Rowena Managatay for the Grade 10 students. The whole week of Career Guidance, there will be a lot
of variety and activities and also reconciliation for the students. Through career guidance or counselling
an analysis can be done for students. Which will help them recognize out their strengths and weakness,
as well as their interests. Mostly of the female students were aiming to be a nurse and teacher on the
other hand several male students’ desires to be a successful businessman and seaman. Regardless
of careers and profession they may dream, the facilitators are perpetually there to support and guide
the students of what pats they wanted to take in the near future.
The Career Guidance Week in schools is necessary for the economic and social benefits of the
students. It will aid them in making effective transitions from secondary school to further education,
training or employment. Career education and guidance; play an important role in curriculum that
supports; students interest, strengths, aspiration student achievements.
