2 Preparation
(1) PC USB driver: Please install Telpo USB driver first. In the package, i386 is for 32bits Windows OS,
and amd64 is for 64bits Windows OS.
(2) PosFireTool.exe: Firmware Update Tool.
Tips: Firmware update could only be executed in Windows OS.
3 Update Procedure
Step 1: Prepare POS with power adapter and battery, to make sure enough and stable power during update.
Step 2: Connect PC and POS via USB cable. For this cable, one end is USB port (PC side), and the other
end is Mini-USB port (POS side).
Step 3: Power on POS and long press “Cancel” key, until screen shows “Usb update”. This will take
several seconds after powering on POS.

Step 4: Open PosFireTool.exe, and you will see three areas in the tools: Serial port settings, File download,
and Operation area.

Step 5: Set serial port parameters. It’s suggested to use default value as below.
Step 6: Select files to update. For example, if you need to update all firmware files, please select files as
below: s2bl, uboot, uimage, rootfs, logo, tpsystem, tpfparam.
NOTE: No need to update file “tpupgrade”.

Step 7: Click refresh button to select COM port automatically. If you have several COM ports in use,
please check which stands for the POS USB cable, and select it.
Tips: Use Windows device manager to check which COM port is using by this USB cable. We will take
COM5 as an example in this document.
Step 8: Click start button to begin update as below. You could see the update status in PosFireTool screen.
Also, update status is shown on POS LCD.

4 Tips
4.1 Write SN
(1) Write SN in notepad, and save it. For example, we save it as “SN.txt”.

Usb update
If SN is imported, SN could be checked in “SN Management -> Settings”. You could see the status of this
SN is “Not used”.

Also, you could check the SN in “SN Management -> Settings”, and you will see the status of SN is
“Used”.
NOTE: If there are some POS and you need to write SN to every POS, please write SN in multiple lines in
“SN.txt”, and the SN will be written to POS one by one.

(2) Update iuboot. After update success, reboot POS and make POS come to standby interface again.

(3) Choose “Erase BadBlockTable”, and click button run. After erase success, reboot POS and make POS
come to standby interface again.
(4) Update all firmware files. Please refer to chapter 3 “Update Procedure”.

5 Notice
(1) Please do not power off during upgrade.
(2) Only V1.2.3 or above version could support this USB upgrade mode.
(3) Maximum supports 8 POS upgrade together.
(4) Telpo demo app is not included in the firmware. So please download app by yourself if needed.
