Background:
Persistent ductus arteriosus (PDA) is a common form of congenital heart disease and forms
about 5-10% of total congenital heart disease. Transcatheter closure of PDA has become the
safe procedure of choice for treatment of PDA without surgery.
Objective:
To determine the outcome of transchateter closure of PDA using different types of devices in
Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital.
Method:
From 2002-2016 data was retrieved from medical record at the Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital,
Jakarta. 432 patients who underwent transcatheter closure of PDA, were retrospectively
identified and studied. The PDA was closed by Amplatzer duct occluder I (ADO I), Amplatzer
duct occluder II (ADO II), Amplatzer septal occluder (ASO), Amplatzer membranous VSD
occluder (AMVO), Amplatzer vascular plug, and Nit occlude PFM coil.
Result:
Conclusion:
Transcatheter closure of PDA is safe and effective for closing PDA
