for oral exams..easy *** questions...

what is your name?

what is the weather today?

how do you find your work?

- It consists of 4 parts: reading, writing, listening & speaking

- starts at 8 & ends at 12(for writing). Interview in the afternoon. Bawal ma-late or else...
Ayaw nila ng long sentences using flighty
words... In other words, make it SIMPLE & understandable. & read the instruction first!!!
- Bring what ur suppose to bring: Passport or ID for identification, pencil & eraser(bawal ang
- Application form is FREE. Kung may nalaman kayong nagbebenta nun, i-report nio agad
yung agency sa IDP or BC.
- Note also that you need not take it unless it's needed. Sayang ang 9000!! If youve taken it
2 years ago, the examadmin will instruct you to take it again... kase yun din ang gusto ng
employers
- Make sure youre taking the right format. You have 2 choices: Academic, mostly for nurses
& students & other professionals; & general training for skilled workers & other immigrants.
Theyre NOT interchangeable.
- scores run tween 1 to 9. Most Filipinos fall tween 6-7.5
-Only 2 agencies administer the test: IDP Australia(Makati) & the British Council(Ortigas).
But i prefer the latter coz mas strict sila sa procedures & requirements.

yun lang...

Share ko lang my experience.. for those planning (or need to take the IELTS)

pumili kung saan para naman sulit your effort, time and tuition (imagine added expense to RE-Take kung
bagsak ka!!) may personal horror stor(ies) ako dyan...

next sa KAPLAN, too expensive naman, hirap ng sked nila for working people like me.

I spent ONE day to review then nag-back-out ako - hindi
ko na nakuha refund - kakainis, pero on the positive side okay na din, better to lose money, than waste
your time, wala ka na naman matutuhan dahil parang hindi sila serious (at duda ko pati sila hindi pa nag
I-IELTS)

-

CAREERWORX and name - malapit lang sa British Council (katabing Bldg.,) - which i checked out.. Okay
may best awards pa - UP/Ateneo faculty may brit expat pa ! - ganda ng training modules grabeng drills
and practice , hindi siya run-of-the-mill Review Center. I met the owners (incentive- guapo the husband,
ganda the wife ) very friendly and concerned for you to pass ( they once gave refund to a student na
nag-retake ng IELTS 4 times) parang advocacy/hobby nila the school (may ibang BPO business sila) - at

So i decided to REVIEW - 5 days !!!!!!!!!!! na kurta ang utak ko but i gained the skill and confidence. sulit
naman kasi nakapasa ako !! (honestly, I feel my Proficiency is not of the level na papasa)

If you have questions or gusto niyo magreview tawag na lang kayo kay Lyn yung mktg staff nila sa tel no.
631-7001 - I am not sure about the rm no (507? 08?09? yata) . pero i know its on the 5th Floor ng

speaking for an OBS or 7.0 !!!!!!!
Kaya yang TIPS-TIPS na iyan pang tamad lang, as in all things, lahat dapat pagtrabahuhan.. lalo pa kung
mga qualifying tests na tulad nito, that would spell the difference kung makaka-abroad ka o ma dedeny
application mo...

and the cost............ Php 8,900 ang test (imagine kung take 2/3/ or 4 ka) and the frustration and waiting
time to take it again, compare it to 5 days and less than 5K to review better your odds of passing. IMHO
lang naman

I agree with the posters, its really best to Review and not rely on Tips. Even better if you attend a formal
review-training.

I took the IELTS and passed it. I am masteral degree holder, have lived, studied and worked abroad, is
very confortable with the English language, but i must admit, contrary to what i thought, IELTS is NOT a
walk in the park (for a cold take) . I took formal review and it was worth the while. I also took my review
at Careerworx.

The materials at BC (British Council) are limited and the one-day review is not sufficient to make you
comfortable and confident. I took the one day course at BC and it wasnt enough. It would help knowing
the format but, you have to have drills to approximate the real thing which self-review cannot give you
(mention finding the time;discipline etc.).

Good luck.

Like gustymoon, i did the rounds of Review schools. My friends gave me a lot of tips including reviewers
but i did not find it useful it was confusing. My first formal review was at Kaplan which i only did half-
way then upon invitation of my friends to join them, I took a review/refresher at Careerworx. I got an
OBS of 8.0 for all my efforts.

Depending on what IELTS is required (Academic or General training) an OBS of 7.0 is very possible.

I wonder gustymoon and trevi were we classmate(s) at Careerworx ? Like you, I was satisfied with their
program. My other referrals to them got satisfactory/average OBS so they must be doing something
right.
