1. OBJETO

The objective of this document is to outline design criteria used in the development of
the Engineering of the facilities for dehydrating, measuring and delivering natural gas to
the Venezuela Gas Pipeline.

2. DESCRIPCIÓN DEL PROYECTO

comprendido entre el municipio de Toledo (Campo Gibraltar) en el Departamento de
Norte de Santander y el municipio de Bucaramanga en el Departamento de Santander,

3.1.4. FEED GAS COMPOSITION

For process simulation, feed gas stream has been considered water saturated at
operating conditions (P y T). Following figure shows composition of feed gas stream to
dehydration plant.

3.1.5. PRODUCT SPECIFICATION

According to RUT (Reglamento Unico de Transporte) specifications, dehydrated gas


stream shall contain a maximum water of 6 lb/MMSCF and a maximum delivery
temperature of 120 ºF to meet the specifications in the delivery point.

3.2. DESIGN CRITERIA

3.2.1. TEMPERATURE

 Maximum design temperature = Maximum Operation Temperature + 50°F


 Minimum design temperature = Minimum Operation Temperature.

3.2.2. PRESSURE

 Internal Design Pressure for Process Vessel: Minimum design pressure 30 psig.
 Process vessel with pressure relief valve: 110 % maximum operating pressure or 25
psi over the maximum operating pressure, the high pressure will be chosen.
 Process vessel that works normally full (liquid and vapor): It is recommended to use
the following values:

4. PROCESS DESCRIPTION

4.1. METERING SYSTEM

Glycol Dehydration Package consists of Gas Inlet Scrubber, Gas Inlet Filter Separator,
Scrubber and Glycol contactor (in tandem), Glycol/Gas exchanger and a Contactor
outlet scrubber. These equipments will have a bypass after the Gas Inlet Filter Separator
with the purpose of providing operative flexibility in case of needing to remove the Glycol
Contactor and Contactor outlet scrubber outside the line.

The metering unit will be constituted by two measurement branches simultaneously


working.

The analysis will be oriented to the modifications to be implemented according to result


of the Front and end Engineering and Design. Areas not affected, will not be analyzed.
In addition to this a SIL Analysis will be developed after the HAZOP for Chevron
Facilities and operations personnel during the Detail Engineering in order to refine
issues related with safety and operability of the Dehydration Plant.

The Safety in Design Manual provided by CVX will be used to design the facilities
covered in the VEP-Dehydration.
