Primary Objectives

 The objective of the study is to create an improvised mini road power generator

attached to a battery as its charger.

 To be able to know the effectiveness of the improvised road power generator

as an alternative energy source.

Specific Objectives

 More specifically this study intends to know if there is any difference between

the voltage produced by the improvised mini road generator in terms of the

number of spins the generator takes.

Introduction

The electricity that we use is a secondary energy source because it is produced

by converting primary sources of energy such as coal, natural gas, nuclear energy,

solar energy, and wind energy, into electrical power. Electricity is also referred to as

an energy carrier, which means it can be converted to other forms of energy such as

mechanical energy or heat. Primary energy sources are renewable or non-renewable

energy, but the electricity we use is neither renewable nor non-renewable. Despite its

great importance in daily life, few people probably stop to think about what life would

be like without electricity. Like air and water, people tend to take electricity for granted.

However, people use electricity to do many jobs every day—from lighting, heating,

and cooling homes to powering televisions and computers. (US energy information,

2018)

Electricity is an energy currency, rather than an energy source. Electrical

generation needs to start from a primary energy source like a fuel or a flow. These

fuels and flows are usually turned into electric current which transmits electric power

to the grid. Power plants are the most commonly used energy conversion

technology to create electricity from primary energy. Common types of power plants

include coal, nuclear, and hydro. While it is possible to have both AC electrical

generation and DC electrical generation, almost all electricity that is produced with

a generator is alternating current. (Afework, 2019)

The advent and development in the field of renewable energy sources, the

dependence on fossil fuels and conventional energy sources has been decreased

drastically. This has led to higher penetration and use of Distributed Resources. The

rapid increase in the demand for electricity and the recent change in the environmental

conditions such as global warming led to a need for a new sources of energy.
 As we are aware of the fact that the number of vehicles are increasing day by

day. Every time a vehicle passes over Speed Breaker, large amount of energy is

wasted through friction. There is great possibility of generating power by tapping this

energy. By just placing a unit like the “Power Generation Unit from Speed Breakers”

or "Road Power Generator", a significant amount of energy can be tapped .This

generated electricity can be used for different purpose such as lighting of streetlights,

battery charging and signal lights on road. (Chandwani , 2017)

Relvance and importance of the study

This research aims to acquire an absolute alternative source of electricity in a

road and assume it is pollution free. The following would benefit the accumulated

electricity:

The Environment

It is an absolute pollution free and does not contain any carbon deposit
over its production and lessen the demand in production of electricity came from
fossils and coals.

To the Community

The improvised road generator can be used as an alternative source of

electricity especially for this generations cars that requires electricity.

Scope and Limitations

The study will be conducted to create an improvised mini road power generator

attached to a battery as its charger. The making of the product will be conducted in

Batangas State University.

The materials that will be used are the 1.2 volts Battery, Dynamo and some

cardboards for the improvised road power generator.
