Philanthropy Day Canadian Agriculture

Hall of Fame Inductee
By KAREN MITCHELL

O n Saturday, November 16th the Minnedosa and Dis-

trict Foundation held its sixth annual Philanthropy
Day raising $15,637.25 in donations and receiving $4,000
in matching money from the Winnipeg Foundation
(20%) and Province of Manitoba (20%). The 40% match-
ing funds is for the first $10,000 raised.
The Philanthropy day 24-hour Challenge started in
2014, and since that time the Foundation has brought in
more than $36,000 in donations (not including matching
funds received). For the first three years, the Foundation
only received 20% from the Winnipeg Foundation and in
2017 the Province of Manitoba joined ranks offering an
additional 20% on the first $10,000.
This is the only fundraiser the Foundation holds and
every dollar raised stays in the area. Money raised goes
into an open fund and the interest/return on investment
can be used in order to give back. Each November, the
board of eight members, hold a luncheon to give out
grants to numerous committees and organizations from
Minnedosa and surrounding area to assist with special
projects and events.
In addition to this, there is now a Youth Philanthro-
py Foundation at Minnedosa Collegiate Institute (MCI).
Started in 2017, under the umbrella of the Thomas Sill
Foundation, this group was promised $3,500 each year
for three years, as long at the Minnedosa and District Photo submitted

By KAREN MITCHELL

A t the recent Minnedo-

dation luncheon, the
Minnedosa Fire Depart-

wards the purchase of a
gear dryer. The dryer, pur-
chased at Ram Air Gear
Dryer in Brandon, will re-
duce the time it takes to
dry the firefighters gear
from two days to a few
hours and promote more
regular washing of gear to
reduce carcinogens.
“We are excited to add
the dryer to our equip-

ATTENTION FARMERS!
Many of our farming members will soon be receiving a
request from MCU to fill out an AGRIPAC which provides the
necessary information to
complete their annual line of credit review. We ask that you
complete the net worth statement as of December 31st or
your corporate year-end and bring in a copy of your 2019
income tax return once it is completed.
If you are running the Microsoft Excel program and are
connected to the internet you can download a computerized
version of the FARMPLAN that will save you countless hours
when completing this statement. This program is available
on the Manitoba Agriculture, Food and Rural Initiatives web
page and is called Farmplan-Financial and Production
Software.
https://www.gov.mb.ca/agriculture/farm-management/
financial-management/pubs/software_farmplan_v2.xls
You will have a permanent record on your computer of your
financial statement that is quickly and
simply updated or changed year after year.
If you have any questions in regard to
completing the AGRIPAC or using the
computer software FARMPLAN, please
contact Terry (204)867-6363, Debbie
(204)867-6360
or Chris (204) 867-6359.
