A. KOMPETENSI INTI (K I)
KI-3 (Pengetahuan) : Memahami, menerapkan, menganalisis, dan
mengevaluasi tentang pengetahuan faktual, konseptual, operasional
dasar, dan metakognitif sesuai dengan bidang dan lingkup
kajian/kerja Bahasa Inggris pada tingkat teknis, spesifik, detil, dan
kompleks, berkenaan dengan ilmu pengetahuan, teknologi, seni,
budaya, dan humaniora dalam konteks pengembangan potensi diri
sebagai bagian dari keluarga, sekolah, dunia kerja, warga
masyarakat nasional, regional, dan internasional.
KI-4 (Keterampilan) : Melaksanakan tugas spesifik dengan

Menyusun teks interaksi transaksional lisan dan tulis pendek dan
sederhana yang melibatkan tindakan memberi dan meminta

memperhatikan fungsi sosial, struktur teks, dan unsur kebahasaan
yang benar dan sesuai konteks penggunaannya.

A long weekend is coming. Riri, Santi, and Bayu are talking about
their holiday plans. Pay attention to the pronunciation and
intonation of the dialog below.
Riri : It will be a long weekend soon. Do you have any plans?
Santi : Uhm, I’m not sure. I don’t have any idea yet. I think I might stay
at home.
Bayu : Stay at home? Well, you could do something more interesting!
Santi : So, what about you Bayu? Do you have any plans?
Bayu : Definitely! My dad and I are going to go fishing.
Santi : Fishing? Are you going to go fishing in the river near your house?
Bayu : No. We plan to go fishing in a lake near my uncle’s house. Would
you like to come with us?
Santi : Fishing? That sounds great. But I would rather stay at home
than go fishing.
Bayu : What about you, Riri? What would you like to do on the long
weekend?
Riri : I have made a plan with my mother about what to do on this
long weekend. We are going to practice baking cookies.
Santi : That sounds like a very good plan!
Bayu : Are you going to bake choco chips cookies like the last time?
Riri : Well, yes. That is my favorite. But we will also try to make ginger
cookies.
Santi : Lucky you. Your mom is a real baker, isn’t she?
Bayu : Ha ha, ha. Do you still want to stay home alone?
Riri : Or, would you like to join me to learn baking cookies? You can
come to my house.
Bayu : It’s a good idea! Or will you go fishing with me and my dad?
Santi : I think I would like to bake cookies with Riri. Thanks for inviting
me, Riri.
Riri : No problem. I will tell you the time on Friday.
Santi : Thanks a lot. I can’t wait to join you.
Bayu : Have a nice long weekend, everyone.
Riri, Santi: You too.

Using I WOULD LIKE TO and I AM GOING TO


Look at the excerpt from the dialog below. Pay attention to the bold-
typed expressions.
Santi : So, what about you, Bayu? Do you have any plans?
Bayu : Definitely! My dad and I are going to go fishing. We plan to go
fishing in a lake near my uncle’s house. Would you like to come
with us?
Santi : I don’t really like fishing. I would rather stay at home than go
fishing. What about you, Riri? What would you like to do on the
long weekend?
Riri : I have made a plan with my mother about what to do on this long
weekend. We are going to practice baking cookies.
Bayu : Are you going to bake choco chips cookies like the other day?
Riri : Well, yes. That is my favorite. But we are going to try to make
ginger cookies too.
Riri : Oh, would you like to join me to learn baking cookies? You
can come to my house.

Simple Future has two different forms in English : ”will” and “be going to”.
Both ”will” and “be going to” refer to a specific in the future.

Past Present Future

Formula for will: [ will + verb ]


Examples :
 You will buy a laptop later.
 Will you buy a laptop later?
 You will not buy a laptop later.

Formula be going to: [am/is/are + going to + verb]


Examples :
 You are going to visit Jane tonight.
 Are you going to visit Jane tonight?
 You are not going to visit Jane tonight.

The use of will and be going to:


1. “Be going to” to Express a Plan
The use of “Be going to” to express something is a plan. It expresses the
idea that a person intends to do something in the future. It does not
matter whether the plan is realistic or not.
Examples :
 He is going to spend his vacation in Bali.
 I’m going to be an actor when i grow up.
 Michelle is going to begin medical school next year.

2. “Will” to express a voluntary Action or Help


“Will” often suggests that a speaker will do something voluntarily. A
voluntary action is one the speaker offers to do for someone else. Often,
we use “will” to respond to someone else’s complaint or request for help.
We also use ”will” when we request that someone help us or volunteer
to do something for us. Similarly, we use “will not” or Won’t when we
refuse to voluntarily do something.
Examples :
 I will send you the information when I get it.
 Will you help me move this heavy table?
 I will not do your homework for you.

3. “Will” to Express a Promise


“Will” is usually used in promises.
Examples :
 I will call you when I arrive.
 I promise, I will not tell him obout the suprise party.
 I won’t tell anyone your secret.
 Don’t worry, I’ll be carefull

4. ”Will” or “Be Going to” to Express a Prediction


Both ”will” and “be going to” can express the idea or a general prediction
about the future. Predictions are guasses about what might happen in
the future. In the following examples, there is no difference in meaning.
Examples :
 The year 2222 will be a vary interesting year.
 The year 2222 is going to be a very interesting year.
 The movie “Zenith” will win several Academy Awards.
 The movie “Zenith” is going to several Academy Awards.

You can use would like + infinitive. (Would like to + the simple form of
the verb), to talk about ambitions, hopes, or prefences.
Examples :
 I would like to speak English fluently.
 I wouldn’t like to dance beautifully.
 I would like to go to Chicago for Chistmas and my sister’s
wedding.

ASSESSMENT
Change the following sentences using “to be going to.”

 Pendahuluan/KegiatanAwal (15menit)
- Guru memberi salam kepada siswa dan guru mengajak siswa
berdoa.
- Guru menyiapkan siswa secara psikis dan fisik untuk mengikuti
proses pembelajaran
- Mengajukan pertanyaan-pertanyaan yang mengaitkan
pengetahuan sebelumnya yaitu simple past tense dan present
perfect tense dengan materi yang akan dipelajari
- Menjelaskan tujuan pembelajaran
 Kegiatan Inti (105menit)
- Guru memberikan sebuah contoh vidio teks intention atau
planning.
- Guru membimbing peserta didik untuk mengamati contoh teks
intention atau planning.
- Peserta didik dipersilahkan oleh guru untuk mengamati teks
intention atau planning tersebut.
- Guru meminta siswa untuk membuat catatan-catatan singkat
mengenai kalimat-kalimat yang digunakan didalam teks intention
atau planning tersebut.
- Guru meminta siswa untuk membaca contoh teks intention atau
planning yang ada di buku pegangan siswa.
- Guru meminta siswa untuk bekerja berkelompok dari hasil
pengamatan peserta didik pada teks intention atau planning yang
ada di buku, guru meminta peserta didik untuk mendiskusikan
fungsi sosial teks intention atau planning yang ada di buku.
- Guru meminta peserta didik untuk mengidentifikasi fungsi sosial
teks intention atau planning yang ada dibuku.
- Peserta didik menemukan fungsi sosial, struktur teks, dan unsur
kebahasaan yang ada di buku teks intention atau planning.
- Peserta didik mendiskusikan fungsi sosial, struktur teks, dan
unsur kebahasaan yang ada dalam buku teks intention atau
planning.
- Peserta didik merincikan kalomat-kalimat yang digunakan dalam
teks intention atau planning.
- Peserta didik mengumpulkan informasi-informasi yang ada dalam
teks intention atau planning tersebut.
- Peserta didik membedakan struktur teks dan unsur kebahasaan
berdasarkan teks hasil diskusi.
- Guru meminta peserta didik membuat sebuah teks intention atau

- Guru meminta peserta didik untuk mencari artikel teks intention
atau planning dan membaca artikel tersebut.
 Penutup (15menit),

 Jumlah skor maksimal per siswa: 16.
 Nilai siswa diperoleh dengan cara membagi jumlah nilai perolehan
 Dengan skor maksimal 16 dikali 100.
 Misal peserta didik B mendapat skor 14, maka nilainya adalah 14/16 x
100= 87,5
