Field Experience #2
1. a. April 11th, 2019,Desert Pines High School. Grade 12. College Prep Math
e. I would leave it as it is, it is a math class, so it is important for the students to have a
clear view of the board. The teacher has to have a clear view of the students as well. I
would add more learning centers though.

2. a. I want to teach World and US history. I think this is a good classroom setup as
well if not I would put two desks together as pairs or four desks together as a groups.
b. This classroom does a good job of clearing high-traffic areas.
c. Students are seen from a perfect view by the teacher.
d. The cabinet in front of the room is full of supplies and when students come in there
are handouts next to the door if they are being offered that day.
e. The screen is high and in a very clear view from the whole class.

3. a. I honestly love this classroom arrangement. It’s a pretty big classroom and there are a
lot of students. There are 39 seats and the teacher informed me that in the beginning of
the year there were 42 students in one of his classes. But now the seats hardly fill up.
One thing I would do is keep the door shut and penalize students for being late. I don’t
want them to make it a habit of coming in late and thinking it’s okay. I would add more
learning stations in case students need more studying.
4. a. In the first period there was 22 students who showed up. Second period there was 20
students in class they were all 17 to 18 years old.
b. Yes, there are students who kept to themselves but for the most part everybody was
following along. There were a few students sitting in the back with their heads down
and some on their phones secretly.
c. This teacher doesn’t have his students raise their hands, it’s more of a free classroom.
While he does math problems on the board, he asks questions to test the student’s
knowledge. So the students are free to answer as they follow along. Sometimes he does
call upon some people who look like they aren’t following along. The people in front and
middle of the classroom were mostly the ones answering completely.
d. They were going to take a quiz but he wouldn’t let certain people take it because
they hadn’t completed their review. He wanted to make sure they were ready so most
of the students in the back didn’t get to take the test.
e. there wasn’t any student who was praised more because they were all the same.
Some students were answering a lot of questions right so he would say “good job.”
f. I saw a lot of students doing their work and being silent although they were not
answering and being active in the conversation, you can tell they understood because
they turned in their test earlier than the rest of the students. I wouldn’t say they were
being ignored, maybe they were tired but at least they got their work done.
