Established Goals – GLO(s): GLO 8.1 Develop number sense.

Understandings: Essential Questions:

Students will understand that…
 Students will develop relationships How are fractions useful?
with numbers. Which careers use fractions?
 Students will recognize fractions,
whole numbers, integers and
decimals.
 Students will develop number sense
with technology.
 Students will learn how to problem
solve changing words and replacing
with numbers.
Prior understandings… Students will be able to…
 [C] Communication
Students have developed relationships of  [CN] Connections
whole numbers and worked with fractions in  [ME] Mental Mathmatic’s and Estimation
grade 5 by shading in patters and shapes to  [PS} Problem Solve
identify how fractions work.  [R] Reasoning
 [V] Visualization

a(x+b) = C

Stage 2 – Assessment Evidence

Pre-Assessment
Students will begin first with a WRAT exam to determine what they know and don’t know. It generates
the GPA of the student’s knowledge based on math.
Students will be given questions and providing answers with class discussions. Assess what students
know about fractions by the answers they give.
