all in our power to ensure your complete satisfaction.
The Installation Guide for the CS 9300 includes information on the Panoramic and 3D features. We recommend
that you thoroughly familiarize yourself with this Guide in order to make the most effective use of your system.
The CS 9300 is intended to produce panoramic x-ray imaging at the direction of health care professionals of the
dento-maxillo-facial area. In addition, the 3D system includes a dental volumetric reconstruction mode which is
intended to produce three-dimensional x-ray images of the dento-maxillo-facial and ENT regions.
WARNING: We recommend that you consult the “Safety, Regulatory and the Technical
Specification User Guide” before using the CS 9300.

Control Panel
The control panel is an alphanumeric, digital soft touch console. It allows the operator to
control certain system functions. It also displays the operating parameters and error
messages.

1 Height Adjustment button: Adjusts the height of the system to the height
of the patient.
2 3D Head Adjustment button: Adjusts the patient head to the x-ray beams.
3 3D Adjustment buttons (active in Technical Mode only): Adjusts the
system rotative arm movements.
4 Laser Beam button: Activates the beams to correctly position the patient.
5 Target Position button: Positions the unit rotative arm at the selected or
memorized 3D position.
6 Reset button: Resets the system arm to the initial position to enable the
patient to enter and exit the system.
7 3D Memorization button (active in Technical Mode only): Memorizes the
3D current positioning parameter settings that override the default
parameters.
8 Display Screen: Displays the current acquisition parameters and the error
messages.
9 Ready Indicator LED: Green, indicates the unit is ready for acquisition.
10 X-Ray Emission LED: Yellow, indicates the x-rays are being emitted.
11 System Status LED: Red, indicates the error alerts.
The x- ray remote control enables you to launch a radiological image acquisition via the
exposure button from outside the x-ray room. You must press and hold the exposure
button until the end of acquisition. Premature release of the exposure button interrupts
the acquisition.

IMPORTANT
Prior to placing the order and before installation, carefully check the
following requirements for the x-ray room.
Standard Compliance
Install the system in an x-ray room compliant with all official regulations applicable to
protection against radiation. This room must reduce the frequency interferences of the
30MHz to 1GHz band to at least 12db.
Environmental Requirements
Check the following ambient operating condition requirements of the x-ray room before
installing the system:
• Temperatures: 5 ~35 °C
• Relative humidity: 30 ~ 85%
• Atmospheric pressure: 700 ~ 1060 hpa

Electrical Requirements
WARNING*
You MUST select the operating voltage when placing an order. The
operating voltage CANNOT be modified on site.
• 100/110/130 V 50/60 Hz
• 230/240 V 50/60 Hz
CAUTION
The power supply line must be equipped with a connection box that
ensures a constant connection. It must not be possible to connect the
system to the power supply without using a tool. The system must be
protected against any accidental disconnection.
If other systems are installed on the same line, interference and voltage fluctuations can
cause the radiological system to operate abnormally. We strongly recommend that a
separate electrical line be dedicated to supply power to the CS 9300.
This line should be protected by a circuit breaker with a maximum current of:
• 16 A at 230/240 V
• 20 A at 110/130 V
• A differential circuit breaker of 30 mA

WARNING
You MUST prepare the appropriate electrical requirements and
configurations of the x-ray room before installing the unit. You MUST locate
separately the following low voltage and high voltage connections:
- Low Voltage: (12 & 12bis), (9), (10)
- High Voltage: (6), (5), (7bis)
To keep you always updated on the latest evolution of the minimum computer system
requirements for the CS 9300 software, this section is posted on the Kodak Dental
Systems website: http://www.kdstec.com, as a separate document with edition
number. Before any intervention on the client’s site, check the Kodak Dental Systems
website first for the latest edition.
IMPORTANT
It is MANDATORY to check that the computer system configuration is
compatible with the computer system requirements for the CS 9300
software. If necessary you MUST update your computer system
configuration. The CS 9300 MUST be connected to the computer via a
point-to-point Ethernet link and not via a LAN. DO NOT place the
computer and the peripheral equipment connected to it in the
immediate vicinity of the patient in the system. Leave at least 1.5 m
distance from the system. The computer and the peripheral equipment
must conform to the IEC 60950 standard.
• Switched off.
• Disconnected from the mains power supply.

3. Reboot the computer. Wait for Windows to detect the presence of new boards.
• For KODAK Dental Imaging Software see Installing the KODAK Dental
Imaging Software.
• For CS Imaging Software see Installing the CS 9300 Acquisition interface.
Wait for the installation program to start. If the program does not start automatically,
click Start > Run and enter D:\setup.exe if D is the letter for the CD-ROM drive, or
the letter of the relevant drive on the computer.
2. The Choose Setup Language dialog box is displayed. Select the installation
language and click OK.
3. The Imaging Software welcome page and the InstallShield wizard are displayed.
5. The License Agreement dialog box is displayed. Accept and click Yes.
6. The Choose Destination Location dialog box is displayed. Click Next if you accept
the default destination folder or browse to choose another destination folder.
7. The Kodak Dental Imaging Software dialog box is displayed. The Patient file is
selected by default but you must select the radiological unit.
9. The Installer Language dialog box is displayed. Select the installation language and
click OK. The 3D viewer Software Setup is displayed.
12. Browse and select your install folder. Let the installation process run automatically.
The Kodak Patient file - InstallShield Wizard is displayed while the patient files are
installed on the hard drive.
The Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 is displayed while this software is being installed
on your hard disk for 3D visualization.
If the firewall is active, the Windows Security Alert dialog box is displayed. Click
Unblock.
16. The Intel(R) Network Connections - InstallShield Wizard dialog box is displayed.
Click Next.
The Intel Software License Agreement dialog box is displayed. Select “I accept...”
and click Next.
If the C++ is not yet installed on your computer, the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005
Redistributable Pa... dialog box is displayed. Read the license agreement. Click Yes.
17. The MicrosoftCP LO5 Release 1 Setup dialog box is displayed. Click No.
18. The eBUS Driver Installation Tool dialog box is displayed listing all the Ethernet
boards available in the computer.
In the Action field of “Intel(R) PRO/1000 GT Desktop Adapter”, click the drop down
list and select Install High-Performance IP Device Driver.
In the other Action fields and for all other boards, click the drop down list and select
Do Nothing.
Click Install. The eBUS Driver Installation Tool dialog box is displayed with the first
field grayed. Click Close.
19. The VirtualCP LO5 BLD08 Setup dialog box is displayed. Click OK.
20. The KODAK Dental Imaging Software dialog box is displayed. Click Yes, I want to
restart my computer now and click Finish.
21. Wait until the reboot ends. Right-click on select Properties. The Properties
dialog box is displayed. Click Hardware tab. Click Device Manager.
22. In the Device Manager, check that PRO/1000 Grabber Devices > Intel PRO/1000
Grabber Adapter (82541 PI) is available.
23. The Kodak Software and Task Queue Panel icons are installed on your desktop
after the reboot.
25. The Windows Firewall window is displayed. Click Off (not recommended). Click
OK.
27. Create a patient record. From the toolbar, click and enter the required patient
28. The Enter the licence number dialog box is displayed. Enter the licence number and
click Validate if you have the licence number or click Cancel to continue.
29. The icon appears on the toolbar of the Imaging window. The installation is
finished.
2. The Installer Language dialog box is displayed. Select the installation language and
click OK. The Calibrations Tool Setup is displayed.
5. Let the installation process run automatically. Click Finish when the installation has
ended.
• You have installed the CS Imaging Software (see the documentation supplied
with the CS Imaging Software for how to install)
Wait for the installation program to start. If the program does not start automatically,
click Start > Run and enter D:\setupCS9300.exe if D is the letter for the CD-ROM
drive, or the letter of the relevant drive on the computer.
2. The Choose Setup Language dialog box is displayed. Select the installation
language and click OK.
3. The Welcome to the CS 9300 Setup dialog box is displayed. Click Install to launch
the installation.
4. The CS 9300 Setup is displayed. Let the installation process run automatically.
If the firewall is active, the Windows Security Alert dialog box is displayed. Click
Unblock.
If the C++ is not yet installed on your computer, the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005
Redistributable Pa... dialog box is displayed. Read the license agreement. Click Yes.
6. The MicrosoftCP LO5 Release 1 Setup dialog box is displayed. Click No.
7. The eBUS Driver Installation Tool dialog box is displayed listing all the Ethernet
boards available in the computer.
In the Action field of “Intel(R) PRO/1000 GT Desktop Adapter”, click the drop down
list and select Install High-Performance IP Device Driver.
In the other Action fields and for all other boards, click the drop down list and select
Do Nothing.
Click Install. The eBUS Driver Installation Tool dialog box is displayed with the first

8. The VirtualCP LO5 BLD08 Setup dialog box is displayed. Click OK.
9. The CS9300 Setup dialog box is displayed. Click Reboot now and click Finish.
10. Wait until the reboot ends. Right-click on select Properties. The Properties
dialog box is displayed. Click Hardware tab. Click Device Manager.
11. In the Device Manager, check that PRO/1000 Grabber Devices > Intel PRO/1000
Grabber Adapter (82541 PI) is available.
12. The Task Queue Panel icon is installed on your desktop after the reboot.
14. The Windows Firewall window is displayed. Click Off (not recommended). Click
OK.
15. You can now start the CS Imaging Software. See the supplied CS Imaging
documentation for more information.
If on the desktop you don’t have a shortcut icon , to access the Network
Connections window, click Start > Control Panel. In the Control Panel window,
double-click Network Connections.
2. Right-click on one of the networks and select Rename and rename CS9300.
3. Right-click on the CS9300 network and select Properties. The CS9300 Properties
window is displayed Scroll down and select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP). Click
Properties.
4. The Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) window is displayed. Click Use the following IP
address. Enter the following IP addresses:
IMPORTANT
Check with the company’s server administrator that the indicated IP
address is available and not already registered in their server. If not
available then use 192 . 168 . 10 . 1 / 255 . 255 . 255 . 0.
5. Click OK. The CS9300 popup is displayed on the right corner of the status bar and
is red.
Tool Requirements
The installer must supply the following tools:
• Power drill
• Screws and heavy duty fixings
• Spirit level
• Measuring tape
• Cutter
• Metric Allen keys
• Metric spanners

The tool references mentioned in this manual are ISO tool
references.

1. While the column is still on the floor, in a horizontal position, fit the wall bracket lips
inside the column and tighten the 2 screws. If necessary, attach the column to the
steel base plate at this time. For a shorter system, you can move the end limit switch
activator (A) to the holes below the current position.
Depending on the standards in force in your country, we recommend that you also
provide the door safety switch (10).

3. Place the column in a vertical position, taking care not to trap any cables between the
column and the floor. Hold the mounting bracket against the wall at the top of the
column and mark the position of the fixing holes. Move the column to one side and
drill the holes.
IMPORTANT
You MUST use the optional base plate if the floor is inappropriate for
technical or aesthetic reasons and if the client requests no floor fixation.
IMPORTANT
You MUST fix the column to the wall. Use the appropriate wall fixing
system suitable for the type of wall construction.
Attach the mounting bracket to the wall and check that the column is correctly
positioned using a spirit level (A). Screw the mounting brackets securely to the wall.
4. Mark the position of the fixing holes at the base of the column. Move the column
slightly forward to drill the holes. Place the column in position. Check that the column
is correctly positioned using a spirit level (A) and screw the base to the floor tightly.

6. Remove the restraining screws securing the Head to the transport trolley (A).
7. Remove the two screws from the power supply adapter mount (Abis) and place it to
one side (to allow easier access to the head mounting screws) and remove the
restraining elastics (B) and (C) securing the Y and X axes.
8. With the help of 2 persons, grasp the system head, mount and position it on the hook
of the column sliding system (A). Screw, but do not tighten, the 2 upper screws with
washers (B).
9. Release the system rotating arm by removing the transit locking screw (C) that
passes through the CJ 653 board. Place the screw in the chassis, so that it can be
retrieved quickly if the system is dismantled at a later date.

10. Rotate the system rotating arm by hand. Screw, but do not tighten, the 2 screws with
washers located under the system head (D).
Relieve the weight of the head at the front with the help of 1 person. Check that the
head is correctly positioned using a spirit level (E). Tighten the 2 upper (B) and the 2
lower (D) screws with washers of the head assembly. Replace the power supply
adapter mount (see step 7 above).

12. With the help of 2 persons, lift the fixed arm and attach it to the column with 4 screws
with washers (A), but do not tighten. Use the level adjustment screw (B) and the spirit
level (C) to correctly position the fixed arm. Tighten the 4 screws with washers (A).

13. Connect the following wiring in the indicated order and use cable ties to attach the
cables:
Post-Installation Control
WARNING
You MUST comply with the standards currently in force while
installing and using the radiological system. Whenever necessary,
you MUST use a shield or wear a lead-lined apron.
ONLY an approved Trophy technician is qualified to carry out any
intervention on the system while it is switched on and while the
covers are removed. NO unqualified person must approach the
system in this case.
IMPORTANT
You must switch on the computer and wait for it to be ready for connection
before switching on the system.
1. Switch on the system and wait for a minute for the connection between the system
2. If you start the imaging software before the connection is established an error
message is displayed. Click OK, close the imaging software and wait for the
connection to be established.
3. From the fixed arm, on the control panel, press to raise the chin rest to the
maximum height.
6. Manually, bring the sensor above the chin rest and the leveling pad (A).
7. Use the level adjustment screw (C) of the fixed arm to bring the leveling pad (A) in
contact with the metal frame underneath the sensor. Tighten the fixed arm fixing
screws (B).

8. Measure the distances (E) and (D) between the top-corners of the generator mount
and the sensor as shown, to check that both are equal to within 1mm.
3. Make sure that the mid-sagittal positioning laser is correctly centered on the bite
block.
If needed, adjust the laser using the fixing screw of the mid-sagittal laser.
1. Place a white paper on the floor and attach with an adhesive tape. This is to correctly
verify the central positioning laser.
5. From the control panel, press and hold to turn the rotative arm 90 degrees at a
time.
If the laser remains stationary, throughout a full rotation, proceed to the 3D FoV
Positioning Laser check.
6. If the laser changes position however, mark the position of the laser with an X after
each 90 degree turn. At the end of a full rotation, you will have 4 marked Xs. Draw a
straight line between each 2 Xs. The center of the crossed lines is the correct
position of the laser.

7. Using the fixing screws of the laser socket, adjust the 3D central positioning laser
beam until it is at the center of the crossed lines. Double check by making a full
rotation.
3. Make sure that the 3D FoV positioning laser is correctly projected vertically in the
centre of the sensor. The distance between the bottom and top of the laser and the
top and bottom of the sensor face must be +/- 1 mm as shown.
If it is not, see the CS 9300 Service Guide (SM781) for how to adjust it.

2. Make sure that the horizontal laser beam is projected parallel to and in line with the
bottom of the sensor.
If needed, adjust the laser using the fixing screw of the laser slide.
1. Place the 3D tool base on the chin rest base. Position the ball phantom on the 3D tool
base. Raise the chin rest base to the maximum height.
3. Check that the mid-sagittal and the central laser beams are automatically and
correctly positioned. From the fixed arm, on the control panel, press .
• The mid-sagittal laser beam must be positioned on the central line (A).
• The central laser beam must be positioned in front of the central ball phantom on
the central line (B).
4. Leave the x-ray room and using the x-ray remote control, launch an x-ray.
5. Use the Control Panel of the Imaging Window for an appropriate contrast of the
image. Check for the following results:

6. If the result is unsatisfactory, check to see if the mid-sagittal laser beam is correctly
positioned on the ball phantom, then redo the operation.
If the result is still unsatisfactory, calibrate the rotative arm (see CS 9300 Service
Guide (SM781), Using the Technical Menu, Calibration procedures, “Arm
Calibration”).
If the results of the verification are satisfactory, proceed to check the 3D mode.
1. Place the 3D tool base on the chin rest base. Position the 3D tubes on the 3D tool
base. Raise the chin rest base to the maximum height.
3. Leave the x-ray room and using the x-ray remote control, launch an x-ray.
4. Use the Control Panel of the Imaging Window for an appropriate contrast of the
image. Check that the acquired image displays circles that are not ‘doubled’. The
diameter of each individual circle should be 7mm.
5. If the result is unsatisfactory, do the following calibrations and in this order (see the
CS 9300 Service Guide (SM781), Using the Technical Menu chapter, Calibration
procedures):
3 In the Tools pane, double-click Quality Assurance Control. The Image Quality Control
window is displayed.
4 In the Image Quality Control window, to perform the test, you can either:
• Select the desired device in the List of detected acquisition devices field.
Or
• Constancy test: This test must be executed regularly by the user. The result of the
tests must be compared to the Acceptance test.
7 Select the desired test and follow the on-screen instructions.
8. If the result is unsatisfactory, do the following calibrations and in this order (see the CS 9300
Service Guide (SM781), Using the Technical Menu chapter, Calibration procedures):

• All the screws in the wall and the floor have been tightened.
• All the screws attaching the head and the fixed arm to the column have been
tightened.

1. Fit the upper cover (A) on the column. Fit the cover on the wall-bracket (B). Fit the
cover on the column connecting terminal (C) and tighten the fixing screws.
2. Fit the 2 under the head covers (E) and (D) under the head and tighten the fixing
screws.
3. Fit the right side column cover (F), position and attach the ON/OFF button to the
cover securely with the fixing screws.
4. Fit the left side column cover (G) on the column and tighten the fixing screws.
5. Fit the inside column cover (H) to the column and tighten the fixing screws.
6. Fit the head cover (J) of the system to the head chassis and tighten the fixing screws.
7. Fit the sensor covers (K & L) and tighten the fixing screws.
8. Fit the generator covers (M & N) and tighten the fixing screws.
Annual Maintenance
We recommend that a general inspection of the system should be carried out every year
by an approved dental systems technician.
• Make an image acquisition with the test tools and check the image.
If the results of any of these inspections are unsatisfactory, see the CS 9300 Service
Guide (SM781), in order to rectify any problems.
