Introduction

While Jesus is the central figure of Christianity, many people in this world would want to know
who is he actually? Is he a God or Man? -- People of his times saw him as a good man with full
of love, a prophet leading a holy life, a powerful being doing many signs & wonders and
healing people with compassion, a godly man sacrificing his life for others & much more. And to
our astonishment, the history of the world was divided after Him viz. BC & AD, and prophecies of
God being pointed to Jesus, which is revealed in various religious books including Bible!

While Christians believe that Jesus is the incarnation of God (the Son) and the awaited Messiah
(meaning ’Christ’ or ‘sent one’), let’s see in this brief presentation on what does the ‘Word of
God’ says about him → as revealed by our heavenly father (God), by Jesus himself, by prophets
from the beginning of this world and by people who walked along with him on this earth during
his times, nearly 2020 years ago!
Jesus is Son of God

 The angel of God reveals to virgin Mary about His child, Jesus -- As in Bible - Luke 1:32, “He will
be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest”
 The witness from heavenly Father through ‘spirit of God’ when Jesus was around the age of 30 --
“And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well
pleased” says Bible in Mathew 3:17
 Peter, a disciple of Jesus, declares that He is God’s son while people in his times were
considering him just as a Prophet and a good man! - when Jesus was asking his disciples, “Who
do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”
17 Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon, son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh
and blood, but by my Father in heaven -- Mathew 16: 15-17
 The Roman soldier who persecuted Jesus and saw him die on the cross, confessed that He is
truly the ‘Son of God’! - Mathew 27: 54
 From the Gospel of John -- For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that
whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life - John 3:16
Jesus is the beginning & end

 1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He
was in the beginning with God… 14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us,
and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and
truth – As in Bible (John 1:1-3&14)
 I AM the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End - As in
Bible (Revelation 22:13)
 Jesus declaring to Jews of his times that He was existing before their forefathers were born --
"Very truly I tell you," Jesus answered, "before Abraham was born, I am!" – As in Bible (John
8:58)
Jesus is a prophet

 Prophesized so, even before He came to earth – This was Lord’s message to Moses viz. “I
will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their fellow Israelites, and I will put my
words in his mouth. He will tell them everything I command him” - Deuteronomy 18:18

 Witness from people of his times – “when the people saw the sign that Jesus had
performed, they began to say, “Truly this is the Prophet who is to come into the world.” –
John 6:14 & again in Luke 7:16 – "A great prophet has arisen among us!" and, "God has
visited His people!“ and several other instances!
 The “Jerusalem temple destruction” that occurred in 70 A.D as prophesized by Jesus and
other end times prophecies coming true as foretold by Jesus – As we read in Mathew 24
Jesus is ‘True Light’ & saviour of mankind

 As prophesied -- "In him was (eternal) life, and that life was the light of all mankind" -
John 1:4 and in John 1:9 "The true light was that which, coming into the world,
lightens every man."
 The angel of God announcing Jesus’ birth to the shepherds and proclaiming him as
the Saviour & Messiah – Luke 2:11
 Jesus said, “I AM the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in
darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.”- John 8:12
 The testimonies we see & hear about Jesus transforming lives of people until today &
ongoing… – from being a ‘sinner’ to a ‘saint’!
Jesus is the way (to heaven), the truth
and the (eternal) life
 Prophecies of God pointed to Jesus - this is revealed in various religious books including
Holy Bible – And all prophecies coming true in Jesus, that was foretold before he came to
earth!!
 Jesus said "I AM the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except
through me” – John 14:6 and again in John 10:9 – “I am the gate; whoever enters through
me will be saved”
 The revelation in John 1:14, 17 reveals “Grace & Truth” came to this world through Jesus
and as He came, his glory as ‘one & only son’ with full of grace and truth was seen!
 And Jesus told (in John 8:31,32), if we hold to his teachings,
 We will be his disciples
 We will know the truth
 And that truth will set us free
Jesus is visible representation of invisible God

 The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation - says Bible in
Colossians 1:15
 Jesus said, “And whoever sees me sees him who sent me” in John 12:45 and again to his
disciple Philip “…Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father…” in John 14:9
 Jesus reveals himself through a transfiguration -- Jesus transfigured before his 3 disciples and
His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light. Here again, Father
God witnessed through a voice citing Him as “Son” and our obligation to “listen Him!” – As
in Bible @ Matthew 17:1–8, Mark 9:2–8, Luke 9:28–36
 As in Bible (John 1:18) -- No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in
the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him
 The incarnation of God (the Son), also called to be awaited Messiah was prophesied
several years before His appearance on earth (Ref: Old Testament of Bible)
Jesus is the creator

 As in Bible (John 1: 2,3&10) -- 2 He(Jesus) was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were
made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made!....10He was in the
world, and though the world was made through Him, the world did not recognize Him
 For in Him(Jesus) all things were created, things in heaven and on earth, visible and
invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities. All things were created
through Him and for Him - Colossians 1:16
 As in Bible (Hebrews 1: 1,2) -- In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets
at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son,
whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe.
Jesus is LORD God

 A Jewish prophet foretelling Jesus birth and his might, nearly 700 years before Jesus was born on earth
– “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he
will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” - Isaiah 9:6
 Jesus’s spiritual(virgin) birth & being worshiped immediately after his birth -- Revelation by God to
wisemen of the east (of world) – As in Bible (Mathew 2:2)
 Revelation by Jesus himself for he said, “I and the Father are one“ - John 10:30
 Jesus’ disciple Thomas recognizing Him as “Lord & God”! – John 20:28
 What did Jesus say when he was asked about him? -- As in Bible (John 8:23-25) – ‘But Jesus continued
(to the people), “You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world. I
told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I AM he, you will indeed die in your
sins”… “Who are you?” they asked. “Just what I have been telling you from the beginning,” Jesus
replied’ – Interestingly, this has citation to God revealing his name to Moses as I AM, nearly 1600 years
Before Christ (on earth).
 When Jesus came to earth, he was one among us and called himself as ‘Son of man’ and at times,
he revealed his ‘Godship’ to his disciples – He was 100% divine & 100% man!
Jesus is coming soon

 The people of his times have witnessed his crucifixion, resurrection & ascension and Yes,
Jesus is living forever!
 "Men of Galilee," they (angels) said, "why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same
Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you
have seen him go into heaven.“ - As in Bible (Acts 1:11)
 He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon. Amen. Come, Lord Jesus” –
As in Bible (Revelation 22:20)
 “Be patient, therefore, beloved, until the coming of the Lord. The farmer waits for the
precious crop from the earth, being patient with it until it receives the early and the late
rains.” – As in Bible (James 5:7)
Jesus is the king of heaven & earth –
for he will judge and rule the world forever!

 Jesus is the most powerful being -- No one on this earth have performed miracles and
wonders like Jesus did - for everything was possible for Him! And not only that, his
disciples/believers were able to perform miracles in ‘Jesus’ name even until today!!
 Even the evil spirits feared & proclaimed Jesus as Son of God – E.g. we read in Luke 4:
34&41 and several instances until today where demons fly away in Jesus’ name!
 As in Bible (Philippians 2:9-11) Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on
him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee
should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth and every tongue confess
that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
 Jesus declared that Father (God) hath given him authority to execute judgment,
because he is the ‘Son of man’ (John 5:27) and again after He rose from death, he
affirmed "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth” – Mathew 28:18
Summary

 Jesus is son of God

 Jesus is beginning & end
 Jesus is a prophet
 Jesus is ‘True Light’ & saviour of mankind
 Jesus is the way (to heaven), the truth and the (eternal) life

 Jesus is the king of heaven & earth – for He will judge and rule the world forever!
