Title: DTI General Santos City conducts its Ground Breaking Ceremony

GENERAL SANTOS CITY, SOCCSKSARGEN – The Department of Trade and

Industry 12 will start its construction of the new DTI General Santos City Field
Office building once budget is available.

The Ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of the building is held on

November 20, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. at the corner lot along Matalam-Roxas Ave.

Gracing the Ground Breaking Ceremony are the Secretary of the Department of
Trade and Industry, Sec. Ramon M. Lopez and other high-ranking DTI Officials
namely: Regional Operations Group Undersecretary Blesila Lantayona, Assistant
Secretary Demphna Du Naga together with the Regional Directors from the
different DTI Regional Offices nationwide; DTI 12 Officials headed by Regional
Director Dorecita T. Delima and Provincial Directors as well as Officers-in-Charge
of the different DTI field offices in SOCCSKSARGEN; media partners,
representatives of the National Government Agencies, private sector organizations
and some officials of the Local Government Unit of General Santos City.

 “DTI is grateful to LGU-Gensan for providing a permanent space for the DTI and
for their continued support to the DTI programs all throughout the years.” Secretary
Ramon Lopez said.

The new DTI XII General Santos City Office five-storey building in its Detailed
Architectural and Engineering (DA&E) Design , has a proposed budget of ₱40M to
be situated at the General Santos City Government Center, Oval
Plaza, along Matalam-Roxas Ave. Brgy. Dadiangas East, Roxas Avenue, General
Santos City.

Once completed the office is expected to contribute to the 2020 Budget Priorities
Framework and to the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2017-2022 strategy of
enhancing the social fabric “Malasakit” by ensuring people-centered, clean and
efficient governance, essentially responding to the needs of the public through
better access to government facilities and services.

Aside from the regular function of DTI at the field level (Business Development &
Consumer Protection), the DTI Building will also house
the Negosyo Center Gensan at the ground level to cater to the public and provide
services such as Business Registration, Business Advisory and Capacity Building
for aspiring entrepreneurs and businessmen. ### (DTI 12/RO)
