We are born, we are named

What started from being attached to someone of opposite sex to being in love and finally deciding to
make the relationship last is what made you, exist in this world. We were born in this world out of our
parents love, though this is not always the case to other people. From the union of female’s egg and
male’s sperm, a life is starting to develop. For several months, we were inside of our mother’s womb
and when the time comes, we were officially introduced as an individual of this world.

We grow and we develop

Before we can say anything, our sexual identity is already predicted. We started life as a young boy or
young girl. One’s characteristics and behaviors conform to or transgress gender norms and roles of
femininity and masculinity. Generally, our gender identities correspond to our chromosomal and
phenotypic sex; however this is not always the case. People’s orientations are not limited to being a
male or a female. Society is slowly welcoming lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgender as part of it; we
develop a feeling of love or attraction to the same gender, different gender or multiple genders.

We are aware and we understand ourselves

Everyone went under the process of puberty. This very moment of our lives is very significant. This is
when we start being aware of ourselves and enjoying the pleasure of what our bodies can give us. We
tend to be conscious of what we, and others look like. We style ourselves, not just to please us but also
other people. We strive to always look good and presentable in the eyes of other people. At the end of
the day, we want to achieve our own happiness and satisfaction of feeling good towards our physical
selves.

We care and we love

Perhaps one of the most exciting moments in one’s life is when he or she develops a feeling of attraction
towards someone. Every day we learn new things, we meet new people and we experience something
new. Each one of those may either be a good or bad influence to us. We start to develop a mutual
feeling towards other people. May it be in the form of friendship or romantic relationship. We learn how
to care, help, share, and be vulnerable to people we love.

We feel and we act accordingly

Our actions are the results of what we feel. Ever notice yourself giggling upon seeing someone you like?
When a man asks a woman to be his partner, this is due to his extreme feeling of love for her and
wanting her to become his. However, emotions can manipulate humans. Sexualization can become dark
in terms of the dynamic of consenting relationship can blur to become abusive. A relationship that is
equal and consensual is one that is balanced in power versus an abusive relationship where a person can
be emotionally and/or physically manipulative by their partner.
