Promoting the language...
Pounsikou means "Thank you" or "Terima Kasih" which is the word to show that we
really appreciate something.
KadazanDusun is one of more than 50 languages and more than 80 dialects in Sabah
. The language is spoken by most of the population especially in the interior ar
eas of Kota Kinabalu, Penampang, Ranau, Keningau and Tambunan [1].
I would like to quote the beauty of the language from [2] as follows:
Boros do KadazanDusun iso boros di olinud om osonong do moboros. Asanang ih do m
insingilo do boros diti, nga maganu do anani timpu nung popoinralom do toilaan p
asal do boros diti. Agayo ih kopio oh guno montok isai-isai tulun ih kiwaro tuni
nan do KadazanDusun do minsingilo do boros diti (sabab maid-laid ngaa tumagak oh
boros diti.) tu au noh daa atogak oh boros do kointutunan do bansa diti.
The Kadazan Dusun language is a simple yet beautiful language to speak. No doubt
, it takes a minute to learn, but a lifetime to master. It is important for each
and every person who has a drop of Kadazan Dusun blood to master this declining
language in order to progress and uphold the name of this race.
Maganu ikoi daa do kosiwatan do magangat kumaa oinsanan tobpinai KadazanDusun do
manampasi do boros om koubasanan id ginawo om rusod maya moboros, momurat om ma
mbasa do boros diti sogigisom do pogigiyon do bansa tokou id pomogunan.
We wish to call out to all fellow Kadazan Dusun folks to let this language and c
ulture live within your souls through speaking, writing and reading the language
for the many generations to conceive.
For me, as a Dusun ethnic of Ranau, I don't want the language declining and gone
without any effort to hold the mother language. Therefore I provide this short
but really important page to me that I am a Dusun and always being a Dusun. To p
rovide the language dictionary is not my intention because the authority such as
Sabah State Library [3] has the language dictionary project.
Even though we have different dialect and pronunciation between Dusun and Kadaza
n, but here, provided are some of my
own Dusun language with reference to [4]:
