CHAPTER III

METHODOLOGY

A. Research Design

Quantitative research design was used for this study. The researchers applied

descriptive survey method. This method is more on facts-findings with acceptable interpretation.

The aim of this type of research is to describe the data and characteristics about what is being

studied. The notion behind this type of research is to study frequencies, averages, and other

statistical calculation. According to V Mittal (2010) descriptive research is a term used to

describe many forms of survey research conducted by advertising researchers in order to

understand consumers attitudes, decision, and expectation.

The researchers will be distributing survey questioners to the previous Grade 12

Academic students of school year 2018-2019, and will be choosing respondents from each

sections of the different strands from ( HUMSS, ABM, and STEM ).

B. Research Respondents and Environment

The participants of this study will cover the previous Senior High School students of

Molave Vocational Technical School particularly the grade 12 students of MVTS SHS. The

academic track has a total of 8 sections and the researchers will be collecting ten respondents per

sections.

The Molave Vocational Technical School composes of 2 campus namely the Junior

High School campus and the Senior High School campus. MVTS offers both academic track and
TVL track. Under the Academic track it comprises of Science Technology Engineering and

Mathematics, Humanities and Social Sciences, Accountancy Business and Management, and

General Academic Strand.

The senior high school campus is located at Burgos St. Molave Zamboanga Del Sur

it is successfully managed by the ever dynamic school principal Mr. Samson Villalon Acapulco

together with his assistant principal, Mr. Arnold Tagalog and with the head and the teachers in

every department.

C .Population of the study

The target population of the respondents in our research will be limited to eighty

students. There will be 8 sections in the academic where we will conduct a survey. The

researchers will only include the G-12 Academic students of Molave Vocational Technical

School.

The distribution of the survey questioners will be distributed during the vacant time

of the respondents.

D. Sample of the population

This study aims to answer the Effects of K-12 curriculum to the G-12 Academic

Students: Quality of Education and this entails a large amount of respondents for a total of eighty

students where we will be selecting ten participants in every section of the previous academic

track.
E. Sampling Techniques

A convenient sampling technique will be used in the study to select the students who will

participate in the study. This technique was chosen because it is a type of non-probability

sampling that is easy to contact or reach. Convenient sampling was used in the study because all

students had an equal chance of being selected.

F. Instrument for data collection

The researchers designed a questionnaire type of collecting data as an instrument for

data collection. The questionnaire was composed of a checklist which sought to capture opinions

of the respondents on the possible association of variables under the study of the Effects of K-12

Curriculum to the Grade 12 Academic Track Students in MVTS SHS: Quality of Education. The

questionnaires are useful instruments for collection of data especially in protecting the privacy of

the respondents. The questions were a checklist type of questions to objectify and standardized

the observations made by the researcher. The questions indicated in the questionnaires will be all

regarding about the benefits of K-12 program to the students in terms of Quality of Education.

The checklist type of questionnaires was used because they are easy to feel by the respondents

and takes a short period of time.

G. Data Collection Procedure

After selecting and finalizing the tools for data gathering and found the questionnaire

valid, the researchers first prior to get the permit and approval from the school principal Mr.

Samson V. Acapulco and the Assistant school principal Mr. Arnold B. Tagalog and to the

research teacher Ms. Smilie Charm Dyrah A. Subiza. Once the permit is approve, the researchers
starts to survey the respondents. The respondents are given time to answer the given

questionnaire. In order for them to answer free and frankly, honestly, and sincerely, the

researchers make sure that the respondents have no wrong answers to the questions. The

questionnaires collected were answered as for the prescribed procedure given. To facilitate the

fast distribution and retrieval of the questionnaire-checklist, the researchers asks for the

assistance of the research teacher. After the retrieval of the accomplish form finish and the

tallying of responses was recorded for analysis interpretation.
