ABSTRACT
Bullying is an act or abuse of power that is owned to hurt others. Bullying behavior can occur
due to various factors, including peers, family environment and the influence of television media.
This study aims to determine the factors that cause bullying behavior in students at one of the
junior high schools in Jember Regency. The study design used a cross sectional approach. A
sample of 38 students was taken by simple random sampling technique with an initial population
of 152 students. The variables in this study are the factors of peers, family environment, and
television media on the behavior of bullying actors measured using a questionnaire. Data
analysis using the Fischer test. The results of peer research on bullying behavior, family
environment factors on bullying behavior, and television media factors on bullying behavior are
obtained p-value = 1.00> α = 0.05; p-value = 0.342> α = 0.05; and p-value = 1.00> α = 0.05,
meaning H0 failed to be rejected, meaning that there is no relationship between peer factors and
bullying behavior; there is no relationship between family factors and bullying behavior; there is
no relationship between the factors of television media with bullying behavior in one of the
SMPNs in Jember Regency. It is hoped that schools will be able to know the bullying behavior
that occurs in students and the school is expected to formulate policies and programs to cope
with these behaviors and is expected to provide insight to family / community about factors that
can cause bullying behavior so as to prevent bullying behavior.
