Pada bab ini peserta didik belajar menganalisa dan membuat teks eksposisi analitis
dengan memperhatikan (a) fungsi sosial, (b) struktur organisasi teks, dan (c) unsur
kebahasaan yang digunakan berkaitan dengan isu aktual. Kemampuan ini dapat
meningkatkan kecerdasan sosial peserta didik, terutama menunjukkan sikap dan
pemikiran kritis tentang isu aktual.

C. Uraian Materi
Pengantar
Bab yang berjudul “Let Discuss Actual Issues Around Us” ini membahas tentang teks
eksposisi analitis yang berguna untuk mengasah kemampuan berpikir kritis yang
dimiliki oleh peserta didik. Teks ini juga berguna untuk mengembangkan wawasan
peserta didik tentang isu terhangat yang sedang terjadi di lingkungan sekitar mereka
maupun peristiwa yang terjadi di belahan dunia lain. Tidak kalah pentingnya adalah
pengembangan kemampuan berpikir logis yang dimiliki oleh tiap peserta didik ketika
mereka hendak mendukung atau menolak sebuah isu.

1. Pembukaan
Pembukaan dilakukan dengan penayangan video di depan kelas berisi tentang demo
teks eksposisi analitis dilanjutkan dengan pengajuan pertanyaan yang ada
keterkaitannya dengan pelajaran yang akan dilakukan.

Pemberian gambaran tentang manfaat mempelajari materi pembelajaran yang akan


didiskusikan pada pertemuan hari ini untuk memotivasi siswa agar lebih tertarik dan
bersemangat dalam mempelajari materi pembelajaran yang akan didiskusikan.

Pada kegiatan ini, beberapa kosa-kata yang berkaitan dengan teks ekposisi analitis
diberikan kepada siswa untuk menambah penguasaan kosa kata mereka dan
memudahkan mereka dalam mengenal teks eksposisi analitis.

Untuk memperkaya penguasaan kosa-kata peserta didik, kegiatan yang dilakukan

Pada kegiatan ini, sebuah teks eksposisi analitis berjudul ‘The Importance of Internet
for Education’ disajikan kepada siswa sebagai bahan pengamatan

The Importance of Internet for Education

(Thesis)
The impact of internet in education has been far reaching and still developing.
It has created instant access to a wide variety of research information to help
students learn.

(Argument)
Nowadays, internet access has created the potential for students to learn new
material easily. The time students have at class is limited, so the teacher
sometimes cannot give all the explanation needed. Therefore, internet can
help students to get more explanation.

(Argument)
Internet has become now way of life. In the future, on students’ working life,
they will have to use internet. So it is wise for the teacher to give assignment
which related to it. For example, teacher can ask students to give the
assignment via e-mail.

Internet has big impact on education. There are many positive things students
and teacher can get from it.

Kegiatan kali ini dilakukan dengan membedakan dua buah teks eksposisi analitis
berdasarkan fungsi sosial, struktur organisasi teks, dan juga unsur kebahasaannya.

The Benefits of Vegetables

There are some benefits of vegetables that we need to know.

Vegetables prevent unwanted signs of aging and keep skin young and supple thanks
to phytonutrients, vitamin C and high water content. Choose brightly colored red and
orange vegetables and you’ll get an added boost of beta carotene, which can give you
a healthy glow as it protects skin from sun damage. Similarly, lycopene, found in red
vegetables such as tomatoes, also has been shown to act as a natural sunscreen.

Meanwhile, nutrients like magnesium and vitamin C are quickly depleted during
stressful times. Luckily, many vegetables contain these very nutrients, as well as
tension-reducing omega-3 fatty acids and B vitamins that fight anxiety and depression.

Some vegetables also have these same nutrients in addition to bone-building vitamin
K, magnesium, potassium and prebiotic fiber. Eat strong-spined, dark leafy greens like
collard greens, turnip greens, kale, spinach (cooked for more calcium!), broccoli and
green peas for calcium and vitamin K. Mushrooms contain vitamin D while asparagus,
chard, kale, artichokes, onions, garlic and leeks are full of prebiotic fiber.

The Importance of Breakfast

Why is breakfast important? “Breakfast like a King, Lunch like a Prince and
Dine like a Pauper” It’s a well known phrase, but do you follow it?

Breakfast provides many benefits to our health and wellbeing. Breakfast


provides the body and brain with fuel after an overnight fast – that’s where its name
originates, breaking the fast! Without breakfast you are effectively running on empty,
like trying to start the car with no petrol!

Breakfast support cognitive function. Breakfast also restores glucose levels, an


essential carbohydrate that is needed for the brain to function. Breakfast provides
energy, studies have shown how eating breakfast can improve memory and
concentration levels and it can also make us happier as it can improve mood and lower
stress levels.

Breakfast provides energy needs. People’s energy needs vary depending on


activity levels and life stage but typically men require more energy than women.
Growing children require a lot of energy, as an example boys aged 7-10 years should
consume approximately 1970 kcals per day, and girls aged 7-10 years should
consume approximately 1740 kcals.

tentang fungsi sosial, struktur organisasi teks, dan unsur kebahasaan yang ada di
dalam teks eksposisi analitis. Siswa juga diajak untuk melaksanakan kerja individu
berupa membuat sebuah teks eksposisi analitis tentang isu aktual yang sesuai dengan
konteks penggunaannya untuk mengukur penguasaan mereka terhadap materi yang
sudah mereka pelajari pada pertemuan kali ini.
