Reverent Revelations

Happy New Year! It may
seem far too early to begin
with this greeting. For the
church, the New Year is
beginning now. In the church
calendar, the New Year
begins with Advent. This is
the season of the year when
we join those of the pre-
Christ era in awaiting the
coming of the Messiah. The
colors change in the
sanctuary and certainly
decorations add to the
excitement as we anticipate
the birth of the baby Jesus.
Too often it seems, we want
to rush past this season of
expectation because we know
the story so well. Jesus is
born and the whole world is
changed.
But imagine yourself in exile
in the land of Babylon
waiting for the time when
you would be allowed to
return to your homeland.
Matthew 3:3
“This is he who was spoken of through the prophet
Isaiah:
“A voice of one calling in the wilderness, „Prepare
the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him.”
Imagine yourself longing for all of us waiting for the birth
the Savior of the world to of the Savior. Come join us
come. I think this is really as we prepare our sanctuary
not much of a stretch for and our hearts for this life
most of us. There are times giving event.
in our lives when we do feel
Jesus is coming! Prepare!
as if we are in exile waiting
for the Savior to come and
restore our minds, our hearts,
our health, our families, our
world. We want to feel in our
souls that incredible,
incredulous, intervention of
God into our personal story,
not just in the history of
humanity.
Advent is that season of
expectation and hope. It is
the time of year when we join
with our sisters and brothers,

The annual CWF Christmas Dinner will be and cook for the dinner. I know the
held on December 12th at 6.30pm, following Christmas Dinner will be a wonderful event
the Donelson Christmas Parade. as always !!!

As always the meal is a gift from the CWF,

but a toy for 'Toys for Tots' or a small
monetary contribution to our church would
be accepted joyfully on the evening. Please
fill out an RSVP card and return it to a
CWF member so that we may know the
number of guests to expect.

All women of the church are invited to join

together on Saturday the 11th at 11am in
the fellowship kitchen to prepare, decorate

Little Bird’s “Thank You” Corner

A Huge Thank You to Leo Sochocki and a team of folks that helped make the chili supper an
amazing success!!!

Another HUGE Thank You to Leo Sochocki and Bob Stovall for all their hard work around the
church. We have exterior lights and lights in the pastor’s office again!

Feel that warm air in the sanctuary? Thanks to Bob and his friends at the HVAC company we can
enjoy a comfortable winter worship season.

Jim Finchum has been carving out some time out of his busy schedule
making sure that the church is “spic-n-span”… Thank You!!!
