Introduction

The world today is fast changing. Humanity is never satisfied with what the planet can
offer us. So the researchers took the initiative to modify it to make it what seems a better place
for us. The researchers want to eliminate the problems that the researchers face. And every now
and then the researchers see a new invention or innovation that will make our lives more efficient
and convenient. But as our lives improve, the researchers tend to neglect the world that the
researchers live. The researchers maximize Earth’s resources for our own convenience to the
point where nothing will be left and dump our waste improperly. And slowly, as tears went by,
the things the researchers have done to our planet are starting to impact on us. They have become
problems that are hard to solve. These problems are affecting the whole planet. No one is
exempted. Even our country is facing the consequences of our actions.
Nowadays, one of the biggest problems our country is facing is Air Pollution. It refers to
the contamination of air, maybe indoors or outdoors. Any alteration to the air in the atmosphere,
whether physical, biological, or chemical can be termed as air pollution. This happens when
harmful gases, dust particles and smoke accumulate in the atmosphere. And its effects can be
very grave. It not only badly affects our environment but also the natural ecosystem of our
planet, the climate, and a person’s health. And one of the major factors leading to this problem is
Smoke Emission.
Smoke emission is primarily caused by burning of fossil fuels. Many vehicles emit huge
percentage of smoke and harmful gases every day that greatly affects the atmosphere, leading to
its destruction. Smoke is one of the major agents of this problem, so the researchers primarily
aims to somehow lessen this crisis in the atmosphere by forming a solution to decrease the
emission of smoke, at the same time making this solution economical and low-cost.

Background of the Study

The researchers aim to make an electronic device that will minimize the smoke emission
coming from the mufflers of local jeepneys in the community. Some of the concepts that are
need to be considered in this study are the following:
Air Pollution is one of the major problems the community is facing today. It not only
affects the world’s environment but also it causes danger in one person’s health. Some of this
causes came primarily from certain types of land transportation- jeepneys, cars, bus, and others.
The smoke that is emitted from the mufflers of these vehicles contains types of harmful
substances that had a major impact for the destruction of the atmosphere.
Smoke is a collection of airborne solid and liquid particulates and gases emitted when a
material undergoes combustion or pyrolysis, together with the quantity of air that is entrained or
otherwise mixed into the mass. It is commonly an unwanted by-product of fires , but may also be
used for pest control , communication , defensive and offensive capabilities in the military
, cooking, or smoking (tobacco, cannabis, etc.). Smoke is used in rituals, when incense, sage, or
resin is burned to produce a smell for spiritual purposes. Smoke is sometimes used as a flavoring
agent, and preservative for various foodstuffs. Smoke is also a component of internal combustion
engine exhaust gas, particularly diesel exhaust.
Smoke inhalation is the primary cause of death in victims of indoor fires. The smoke kills
by a combination of thermal damage, poisoning and pulmonary irritation caused by carbon
monoxide, hydrogen cyanide and other combustion products.

Statement of the Problem

The researchers primarily aim to make an electronic device that could minimize the
amount of smoke content emitted from mufflers of local jeepneys in the community.
