Remember the church
building that is hopefully finished now and in use for services. Remember our church building project in
prayer too, praying for a breakthrough in finance so that the next steps in its construction can be started.
Saturday 22nd Prayer in the caravan at 08.30h 14.3 FAITH Pray that God would bring many young people
to a saving faith in Christ. 1 Timothy 4v12. Thank God for young people known to us who have made a
profession of faith. Pray that this would be a faith that lasts into and throughout adulthood. Pray that
they would be courageous in sharing their faith with their peers and know God’s blessing and protection in
their witness. Tonight our annual Scottish Quiz is taking place, thanks to Liz and Linda’s inspiration. Pray
for them and all involved in catering and coming. That it will be fun as well as very fruitful for the King’s
Barn funds.
Sunday 23rd Pray for Leslie Edge who is Chaplain at the Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice in Glasgow.
He is on the wards and in the day-unit almost daily meeting with patients, their families and staff.

Monday 24th Lunch ‘n’ Chat takes place today. Pray for all hosting, serving and attending this popular
event – that the food and company would be enjoyed, but more importantly all would have a sense of
Jesus being part of the gathering too.
Tuesday 25th 14.4 SPEECH, CONDUCT AND PURITY 1 Timothy 4v12 Pray that Christian youngsters in our
community would stand firm in their faith on weekdays too, taking care to act and speak in a way
honouring to Father God. Ask God to help them resist the temptations they face at school and home.
Especially pray for resolve to pursue sexual purity.
Wednesday 26th This afternoon the monthly service at Dovecot takes place. Keep praying for the regulars
who attend, that even in their senior years they would feel young in spirit, knowing that their Heavenly
Father loves them so much. Pray for those involved in leading the service to be responsive to the Holy
Spirit in all they say and do. Tomorrow ladies will be lunching! Pray for a blessed time of food and
fellowship for all.
Thursday 27th People experiencing the abundant life which Jesus provides are the motivation for the
evangelistic and discipleship work of BMS World Mission. Pray for the many different ways and places
where this work is carried out by BMS workers and partners; people such as Andrea and Ian broadcasting
the Good News to people in North Africa, and Helen and Wit Boondeekhun church planting in Thailand.
Friday 28th 14.5 DEVOTION TO SCRIPTURE “Devote yourselves to the …. reading of Scripture, to preaching
and to teaching” 1 Timothy 4v13 How can young people experience LOVE and FAITH, and be able to guard
their SPEECH, CONDUCT AND PURITY? The same way all of us can - by allowing God to speak to us
through His Word. Pray for each young person to be diligent in establishing a regular time to read the
Bible – not from guilt or coercion but because they have a vibrant love for God. Pray too that a group of
young people meeting regularly for Bible study would be a reality in Peebles.
Saturday 29th Prayer at the Caravan at 08.30. Do something special on this rare extra day. Pray and ask
God what that might be: A prayer walk with a friend? A surprise meet-up with someone – either in person,
by phone, or social media? An act of kindness of some sort? Signing up to support something or someone?
Praying for an opportunity to speak to someone about Jesus? Whatever it is – remember to act it out
knowing that God has called you to this and be prepared to share at our next second Sunday of the month
service.

Pray every day for our church, for God to bless, minister to and through the:
1. Leadership – pray for Ian and Lindsey; the Deacons: Linda, Liz, and John; and all the
team leaders.
2. Family – pray using the address list as a guide to cover everyone during the month
3. Worship – pray for those involved in the music ministry, and all other aspects of
worship as per the rota
4. Witness – of individuals living and working in this community; as a body
representing Jesus; of our mission partners in Guinea and Kenya
5. Growth – pray:
- for people to come and find their spiritual home in our church
- for the children in the church family and those who teach them in JAM
- for the Building Project: the practicalities of fund-raising and building, the activities
and outreach now and the opportunities to come as The King’s Barn takes shape.

Saturday 1st We start this new month with the opportunity to meet together for prayer and breakfast at
the Drill Hall at 9am. We will be praying for Ian and Lindsey as their sabbatical begins, for this week’s visit
of the team from Farmington, New Mexico, for the building project and for other issues. Do come if you
are able. If not, pray as the Spirit leads.
Sunday 2nd Marion Carson is a Lecturer in Biblical Studies at the Scottish Baptist College as well as the
Pastoral Support Coordinator for Glasgow City Mission. Pray for her in these very different roles. Bo’ness

Pray for Lionel as he preaches for us this morning and include all others on the rota in your prayers. Pray
for Lindsey and Ian as they attend a “Restore and Refresh” conference for ministers in Leicestershire until
Wednesday. May they be well restored and well refreshed!
Monday 3rd In the chapter, “Praying for People in my Church” from 5 Things to Pray for your Church we
move on to praying for the children in our church referring to Psalm 78v1-7. 13.1 GIVE THANKS for “the
praiseworthy deeds of the Lord” (v4) Think of an event in the Bible that you especially loved hearing about
as a child or a new believer. Ask God, as you cast your mind back, to speak to you in a fresh way from this
recollection and give thanks for all who were instrumental in leading you to faith. Pray that He would use
us to lead each of the young children in our care to a life of faith in Him; that His Word might come to their
minds often, to bless and direct them throughout their lives.
Tuesday 4th Home groups take place today, as usual. Pray for a time of blessing for every person involved,
that through meeting together to learn, talk about and talk to Jesus they will know the reality of Romans
12v2 – not conforming to the pattern of this world, but being transformed by renewed minds. Pray for a
safe journey for the team from New Mexico flying in to spend time with us and the folk at Dennistoun
Baptist Church. Pray that we would be ready in mind, body and spirit to welcome and learn from our
American brothers and sisters on speaking to others about Jesus.
Wednesday 5th Pray for all involved in Singing Together at Dovecot this afternoon. Ask specifically that
the words of the hymn chosen would take root deeply in peoples’ hearts and draw them closer to Jesus.
Pray for tomorrow evening’s event where, together with the New Mexico team, we can share supper, sing
together and go on a prayer-walk (either literally or in our spirits) around some of the southside streets.
Thursday 6th 13.2 WHOLE-CHURCH INVOLVEMENT “We will tell the next generation the praise-worthy
deeds of the Lord” Psalm 78v4 We are all involved in this, whatever our age or situation! Pray that our
church family would find new ways to tell the next generation about Jesus; that youngsters coming to our
church would have many spiritual “aunties” and “uncles” who are committed to their growth, finding
opportunities to invest meaningfully in their lives and praying regularly for them. Pray for the supper and
prayer-walk time this evening – for all who can come to be open to the Holy Spirit joining hearts and minds
in unity and purpose as we pray for the area around The King’s Barn site.
Friday 7th Lyn is hosting an Open House coffee morning, giving the opportunity to spend more time with
the team from New Mexico. Pray for this event, and for relationships to be formed between us that
deepen quickly in the short time we have together. Pray for the final preparations for the Mission Training
day being held tomorrow. Looking to further mission fields: the BMS World Mission Prayer Guide focuses
on France this week. Given the UK’s new status in relation to Europe, some of us may be feeling rather
disheartened. To encourage you on spiritual matters, do read this latest prayer letter from John and Sue
Wilson who have worked with BMS in France since 1988: www.bmsworldmission.org/wp-content/
uploads/2019/12/1911-JS-Wilson.pdf. The national youth conference they organised saw over 500
attendees with a good number of decisions to follow Christ being made and baptisms back in home
churches taking place. John and Sue write: “Today we are all experiencing a new generation that is open to
seeking God. We need to be signposts pointing to Christ. He does the rest because all good gifts come
from above.” Praise God for what is happening in France, where atheism and religiosity has been rife for
generations, yet there is now a growing hunger for relationship with Him. Pray for all BMS workers and
partners in France today.

Saturday 8 Prayer in the caravan at 08.30h. Come if you can – or join in wherever you are. Pray
especially for the Mission Training day: for safe travels for those coming from a distance, for God to speak
clearly to us through the talks and practical sessions and for growing courage and dependency on the Holy
Spirit to put into action what we will learn.
Sunday 9th Let’s pray for John Craib who is pastor of Bearsden Baptist Church and also Chaplain to HMP
Low Moss. Pray for him and the team reaching out to prisoners through one-to-one conversations,
services and Alpha courses. Pray for all at Bridge of Don Baptist Church, Bristo Baptist Church, and
Broughty Ferry Baptist Church. Remember in prayer, Scott Wilson and the team from Farmington, New
Mexico taking our service today. Pray for those at Frank and Christine’s as they receive/update on First
Aid training for Vicky’s Tea-Room. Today is the BMS World Mission Annual Day of Prayer. A guide to

Monday 10th Did you pick up a prayer guide for our mission partners, Andy and Jutta? Put it in a
prominent place and pray for them and the land they work in today. We are looking forward to their visit
to us in June. Catch up with their latest prayer-letter when you are at church.
Tuesday 11th 13.3 FAITHFUL BIBLE-TEACHING Psalm 78v5 Pray by name for all involved in giving the
children’s talks and with JAM that they would be encouraged and inspired in teaching the Bible faithfully
and clearly. Pray for all the parents of young children known to us that they would be enabled to model
what it looks like to obey God’s commands.
Wednesday 12th Wednesday Welcome takes place this afternoon at Frank and Christine’s. Pray that all
who attend would know not just a human welcome, but a heavenly welcome too! Diversity takes place
tomorrow night. It’s good to pray for all who attend this time of craft-making and chatting.
Thursday 13th 13.4 TRUST IN GOD Pray that the children of our church would “put their trust in God”
Psalm 78v7. No amount of JAM and children’s talks can make a child a Christian – this only happens by
God’s grace. So, let’s keep praying for the children in our church: those who come regularly, those who
we only see occasionally and, prophetically, for those to come in the future that they would indeed put
their trust in God for life. Pray for Ian and Lindsey continuing their sabbatical with participation in the
Precepts Bible School in the south of England until the 24th, followed by a few days holiday in a sunny spot.
Friday 14th Pray for Peru. BMS World Mission is represented in all parts of Peru: the Andes mountains, the
Amazon river, the desert like coastal regions and the cosmopolitan capital Lima. Training is being provided
to pastors who have little access, otherwise, to courses and help on become self-sustaining is being
offered to poor communities. Pray for all who serve God in Peru, to have the joy of seeing a growing
number of disciples ready and willing to keep up the momentum of this Kingdom work.
Saturday 15th Prayer in the caravan at 08.30h. 13.5 FRUIT FOR YEARS TO COME Pray that our children
would “not forget (God’s) deeds” (Psalm 78v7) as they grow up. Pray that what they learn now would be
laying the groundwork for a mature faith in adulthood. Look ahead 30 years and pray that one day, these
children “in turn would tell their children” v6. Pray that keeping a long-term perspective would guard
parents and leaders from discouragement.
Sunday 16th Philip Craven, an RAF Chaplain, asked for prayer for his and all the other serving padres in
their ongoing ministry as they give witness to the grace of Jesus, the love of God and the fellowship of the
Holy Spirit; asking that we would pray too for all service personnel far from home and remember their
families waiting for their return. Pray too for all at Broxburn Baptist Church, Buckhaven Baptist Church
and Buckie Baptist Church. Pray for Alan, preaching at PBC today as well as for all involved in the service
(including those sitting in the congregation ). There may be lunch and a time to pray together
afterwards – watch out for more news on that.
Monday 17th Keep remembering to pray for the children and staff at Peebles High School who are on a
couple of days’ break now, but, hopefully, settling back to one location rather than being scattered
throughout the town. Pray for all involved in the process of the long term solution for the school building.
Pray for all teachers known to us who love Jesus, that this love would shine from them even in the most
trying of circumstances, touching the lives of the youngsters in their care and their colleagues.
Tuesday 18th We are moving on to praying for five things for our young people. But where are they? Let’s
pray fervently for a new chapter in our church life as we explore and pray about how to reach young
people in our community. Read 1 Timothy 4v10-13 14.1 THANK THE LIVING GOD Praise God that He is
“the living God, who is the Saviour of all people, and especially of those who believe” v10. Pray for
parents of teenagers known to us, for the churches in Peebles that have activities for teenagers, as well as
for Christian staff at the High School. Pray that all would be able to echo Paul in saying that they labour
and strive, “because (they) have put their hope in the living God” v10 and that their example would result
in disciples being made.
Wednesday 19th The BMS World Mission training hub, based in Birmingham, works with theological
colleges to deliver structured teaching on overseas mission. Pray for all who prepare and deliver the
teaching material as well as missionary trainees receiving it. Three couples (two with young children) are
heading out to Chad soon to commence ministry there. Pray for them by name: Gareth and Bethan
Shrubsole (+ 3 children); Melanie and Tom Spears (Maisie and Rosa); Brian and Jackie Chilvers. All will be
involved in health ministry at Guinebor II Hospital. Pray too for the Diaconate meeting this evening.
Thursday 20th 14.2 LOVE “Set an example…in love” 1 Timothy 4v12 Pray for young people in churches in
Peebles and the wider area to grow in their understanding of God’s love for them – and that this would
result in a growing love for Him and the people around them. Ask God how we, as Peebles Baptist Church,
might have opportunities to show God’s love to young people in our community.
