Bullying of any form is unacceptable and all incidents will be dealt with promptly and effectively.
The aim of the policy is to promote an environment where students and staff feel safe and secure.
Bullying in all its forms is contrary to the ethos of the school and will not be tolerated.

Bullying can be prevented if everyone agrees to follow and respect the SCHOOL RULE:-
Everyone should take part in maintaining a caring community in which there is mutual
respect and understanding of others’ cultures, beliefs and individuality through courteous
and considerate behaviour at all times.

Responsibility

It is the responsibility of the headteacher and the governing body to ensure that the policy is
implemented and reviewed.

Objectives of this Policy

All governors, staff, students, parents and carers should have an understanding of what
bullying is.
All staff should know what the policy is on bullying, and follow it when bullying is reported.
All students and parents/carers should know what the policy is on bullying, and what they
should do if bullying arises.
At Waldegrave School we take bullying seriously. Students, staff and parents/carers should
be assured that they will be supported when bullying is reported.
 Bullying will not be tolerated.

BULLYING OF STAFF

At Waldegrave School all staff should treat each other with mutual respect and in a way that
makes all colleagues feel valued and part of the Waldegrave community.

Where a member of staff feels that they have been treated in an unreasonable way or in a way
that makes them feel undervalued or bullied they should speak in confidence to their Line
Manager, a member of the Leadership Team or the Headteacher. The member of staff should also
consult their union representative.

Action for members of staff if they feel they are being bullied:

DO
Let someone know (Line Manager, a member of the Leadership Team or the Headteacher)
Do not delay and allow the problem to continue.

DO NOT
 Do nothing.
 Be afraid of raising concerns.
 Approach or accuse individuals directly.

Where further action needs to be taken this should be done in accordance with the grievance
policy or the whistle blowing policy.

Bullying – A Charter for Action

Name of School: Waldegrave School

Name of Local Authority: London Borough of Richmond upon Thames

We are working with staff, students and parents to create a school

community where bullying is not tolerated.

Our school community

Discusses, monitors and reviews our anti-bullying policy on a regular basis.

Good practice suggests the policy should be reviewed on average every two
years.

Supports staff to promote positive relationships and identify and tackle

bullying appropriately.

Ensures that students are aware that all bullying concerns will be dealt with
sensitively and effectively; that students feel safe to learn; and that students
abide by the anti-bullying policy.

Reports back quickly to parents/carers regarding their concerns on bullying

and deals promptly with complaints. Parents/carers in turn work with the
school to uphold the anti-bullying policy.

Seeks to learn from anti-bullying good practice elsewhere and utilises the
support of LA and relevant organisations when appropriate.
